Ian C,
First this NEVER listen to a "Expert". They usually know the least. Talk to a guy who doesn't say much, but messes with tractors.
Kinda' like the guy in High School who said that he Ahh, Ahh, "dated" the head cheerleader. The guy who didn't say much, but had a big smile, was the guy that REALLY did all the dating!

Frank, depends on the browser, IE will display the photo name but Mozilla FireFox will not.

Hey Guys I tried to shut off my 102 last night and found that the start/ gen. is sticking on I have to take the cable off the batt. to make it stop turning over. Can anybody let me know how to fix this? I Dont know if it is in the switch or not. I WILL THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP NOW.

Question about the K241 engine in my 108 - as I purchased it, there is a little uncapped valve on the side of the engine. Does anyone know what is supposed to attach to this? You can see it in the photo below. I don't have another K241 to reference against. Thanks in advance for the help.

Jim, that is a mechanical fuel pump. The IH built Cub Cadets never used a Kohler with a mechanical fuel pump. There should be a block off plate in that location on a Kohler in a Cub.

It is an mechanical fuel pump, which is not needed on your CC as the fuel tank is above your carburator. You can purchase a block off plate from your CC dealer--unbolt the pump and instal the new plate w/gasket.

Paul,

And I posted a photo.

Jim, you could buy the fancy anodized aluminum version from David Kirk and also get the breather cover that he sells that has the tube to divert the oily gases down and away from the side of the engine.

Or for the valve spring cover just braze a 1/8" NPT half coupling to the original cover & screw in a barb fitting --LOL

Kraig Do you have any Ideas about my Post about the Starter Proublem?

Wyatt Compton has a fuel pump on his "Wheatland", the custom Cub Cadet he's been working on for quite some time now. Here's what it looks like:

Wyatt, any more progress on your "Wheatland"???

Willis, I saw your post, I can only guess as to a cause so I was staying quiet and hoping someone with a more confident answer would post. Here's my guess, bad key switch, stuck solenoid or perhaps a short somewhere.
dunno.gif
I suppose it's possible that the regulator is not working properly and is sending 12v out to the S/G via the blue wire.

To diagnose you could start by removing the blue wire from the S/G and then connect up the battery and see if the S/G turns over on it's own. If it does turn over on it's own that would eliminate the regulator. Then you could unplug the key switch from the wiring harness and then connect the battery up and see what happens, if it turns over then I'd suspect the solenoid.

Guys, thanks for the quick answers - for some reason a fuel pump never occurred to me. Probably not the original Kohler in the CC, or somebody tinkered with something - most of the history of this tractor is unknown to me.

I'll probably just get a plate and a gasket and block off - I'm guessing oil is leaking somewhere around that fuel pump.

Jim, the oil fill/dip stick location on your 108 is not typical for a 108, that is an older configuration. On your 108 the oil fill/dipstick should be like on the Kohler I posted photos of. The oily film on the side of the block is typical of the "exhaust" out of a breather on a tired Kohler. I doubt it has anything to do with the fuel pump.

Thanks Kraig I will try this tonight when I get home and i will let you know what I found AGAIN THANKS FOR THE HELP>

Kraig,

You mention Wyatt Compton's Wheatland. Are there an pics of it? I haven't had any luck finding any.

Thanks,
Jerry

Kraig I like the way you relocated that sparky thing that makes Cub Cadets go
explotar2jr.gif
to the side of the carb. That would work here in New England as long as the wind would stop blowing upwards and all over. Gotta love those end of June northeastas!

Jerry, hopefully Wyatt will post some. All I have are a few detail photos of it like the fuel pump photo below.

Speaking of cool custom Cubs, are there any pictures of Dan Hoefler's 100 High Crop and 100 FWDA available anywhere? I remember seeing them at the Red Power Roundup in Sandwich, IL several years ago, but haven't seen anything about them since.

Jerry
