STEVE - Your WAY too young to remember shelling corn that way!
biggrin.gif
Kraig - That truck You posted the drawing of was I think a Cargostar. They kinda replaced the CO series in some of the lighter weight classes. The CO series was a product of the 50's and had the typical 50's styling touches, even though IH built them until '65 or '66. Well, I better return the topic back to Your regularly scheduled Cub Cadet Forum. MATT G. - On the smoke from the breather cover.... Sounds like time for piston, rings, & new rod, grind the valves, maybe replace valve guides. Rings may work for a while but not long and not well.

Ken W. -

I'll bet you're talking about the Blue Ribbon service manuals, right?

Matt G-
For whatever it's worth; my 169 blows a LOT out the breather when I get it real hot or work it pretty hard (like when I really push it plowing).

Make sure the element in your breather is still there and not a little cake of oil & dirt. When the breather element's full & dirty I'd think it would tend to hold more oil that would get blown out.

There is an OEM Kohler breather out there that connects to the air cleaner base. In checking out tractors that have it, it doesn't appear that they make a mess of the carb or air cleaner element.

Denny,

Oh no I'm not.........wasn't old enough to be of too much real "help", but I cut my teeth on the Farmall M hauling ear corn from the field to the corn dump, and my brother and I would "climb the pile" with pitch forks bent into rakes to pull corn down to the "big kids" who fed the drag with AL shovels.

Shuck wagon, cob pile, IH Loadstar gasser screamin' away on the sheller.........FUN STUFF for an 8 year old kid!!!!!!!!!!

Denny,
Said it before and I'll say it again, IH construction equipment and trucks were P.O.S. (although the DT466 is a goodie). If your working in the dirt, it's Macks and Cats!

Ok guys..what do you use for Video capture software. The software that came with our Sony Mini DV is not acceptable to me.

I don't need fu-fu music and goofy transitions on ALL captured video..

Ryan -- I have a regular Handy Cam and use a Studio DC10 capture card. It has the junk in there but it's only there IF you want to fade in / out from Bryan to Digger ... GAWD what a thought !

Ryan,
Windows XP comes with Windows Movie Maker (get the updated version from Windows Update)

Cheap and easy, Ulead Video Studio
Expensive and more complex, Ulead Media Studio Pro.

I assume you already have the firewire card for the computer.

Thanks Kenny W....

It's hard to tell if it's blue smoke, I'll just have to keep an eye on it. I have another 10hp tractor but I tend to keep this geared up for tilling and snow plowing..so i kind of rely on the 12hp to do the mowing for my place and my parents.

Another question pertaining to mowing decks...the big power pulley in the middle, where can I purchase a new complete assembly. The 100 that I have its deck needs that whole middle assembly. The only place I know of is by the old Nuclear plant on the Ct. River...I don't know of any other IH places around.

Paul P. -

First of all, we have all thos "pretty colored boxes" up above here - a few of our sponsors are also DEALERS and are more than happy to ship.

Second, PLEASE READ THE FAQ at the link above, it provides a few other ways to get manuals and parts.

Third, a Case/NH/IH dealer will do you no good unless they also sell Cub Cadet. The Cub Cadet corporate website has a dealer locator.

Ryan, I use a variety of programs but mostly I use "Sonic My DVD" it came bundled with my Sony DVD burner. I also have Pinnacle Studio 8 and Ulead Media Studio came with my ATI All-In-Wonder video card but I don't care at all for it. I recently downloaded a trial version of Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 in hopes that it would be better than the older version I have but I still don't care for it. If you don't have a Firewire card I can get one for you. Send me an email if you need the firewire card.

Here's a link to the website that sells the firewire card I use. They are low cost, I've had mine for over a year and so far it has worked flawlessly. My brother has one and several of my coworkers also have them.

STEVE - Last time I was part of a shelling crew was in about 1974, maybe '75. Guys used to be able to make a living shelling ear corn year around. Now it's tough to find a corn picker anywhere! I do know where there's a PTO powered Minneapolis Moline sheller that still works if You want to shell corn at this fall's PD. Make sure You set the demonstration up "Down Wind".
Tom H. - Another complaint I heard from the old Service Mgr. of Riverside Int'l in Davenport about IHC trucks was that IH NEVER ever built any two exactly alike. Parts were terrible to get right. They were durable enough, maybe burned a LOT of fuel, heavy, dated looking, and they ALL seemed to ride rough. IH construction Equip. was never in the same league as Cat. Why IH chose to try to compete with them in that market has to be one of the biggest marketing blunders of ALL time.

Art stopped by last night and picked up some parts and gave me a suggestion to get the steering wheel off of K4K. The shaft was mashed down (It was that way when I got it) and the steering wheel just didn't want to come loose even using the method in the FAQ. Seeing as the steering shaft was already ruined, and I have a good replacement, Art suggested that I cut it off below the steering wheel and place it on the open jaws of a bench vise and whack it good with a hammer. A few minutes after Art left I had the wheel free from the cut off shaft. Thanks Art!

I spent a few more minutes working on K4K last night then I went over to my neighbor's place and helped him on one of his F-14 Farmalls. I got the pedistal off and the steering column out and the grease off of the front wheels.

I think K4K is happy to finally have some attention.

When I got K4K, Myron B. had sent up the fenders and in the box with the fenders was the cardboard with the smile face. I just had to keep it.)

You may have noticed the second frame in the photos. The frame on K4K was cut with a torch in the area of the steering gear box. Perhaps Travis had this Original at some point? :eek:p

I bought a spare from Don some time ago.

Looking good there Kraig! Glad to hear that the steering wheel came apart for ya.

I went home with those free parts you gave me from the 107 and put them on the floor next to the 149...Whew! I was tired after that!
