Tom H.

I'm not far from there at all and usually try to make it to Lacon on Saturday.

The old tractor shows wont start round here for a couple of months yet. First Rosholt then Symco. Rosholt is pretty good with the rock crusher tractor pulls and such. Symco is really impresive. They have been in the same place for almost forty years. The threshery grounds is bigger and nicer than the town. Two sawmills with a catwalk for observation three pull sleds, old time print shop, lots of static display peices the place must be forty acres. The feild that they run everything in must be 5 acres with corn shellers, balers threashers, water pumps, the original town generator is there but not currently opertional. I'll have to post photos after the show.

John Lang...that is an OUTSTANDING tractor.

I need some help here: I can't find the crank bearings or the valve guides for a k301a engine. I cheked with the sponsors, but the results were inconclusive...

Charlie - I see in the second pic ya got yer hand on the shifter ... I see in the third pic it's longer now.

Glen - Most engine rebuild shops can get any Kohler part that is made by Kohler. You're not trying very much are you...

Got a a call Friday from a GOOD friend that does garage sales three days a week. He's always making super deals (2500 watt generators for 10 bucks, etc). He found and then totally rebuilt a Wheel Horse last year - really looks nice. He called to tell me that he now owned a Cub too. As soon as he told me what it was - a 149, I told him he was killin' me - I've been watching for one for a couple of years. He took pity on me..it's now in my barn.

It must have been owned by an "engineer", as there are a couple of mods..one is individual rear brakes like an 8N Ford. It's also got a u-joint driveshaft..

Mower deck is weird - I thought it was a cobble job with the big n' 2 little blades, but just before I posted this I saw the pics Charlie just posted.... I've got to get out the manuals to identify it...Engine is a smoker - I made two low passes to clear the yard of mosquitoes. Worst problem that I see right now is the generator pulley/clutch housing on the engine is flopping around, that'll be first priority. Not bad for less than two bills ???
Gotta go change my profile !!!

Tom H. and Steve B.,

I am planning to be at Lacon on Saturday as well. I pulled the cord on one tractor after replacing the fuel line and it started right up today. The other should fire up baring problems with bad gas so I'll have two there at least. If I get things buttoned up on the loader tractor I just finished it may tag along too.

What cub makes the best plowing tractor? I have a incling to have a cub built for me.I just need some advice on what tractor to buy.I will probably have Bob Haften of Montrose Mn Build it for me. He sure is a craftsmen when it comes to cubs.

Tony,
Just tell Bob to steal this one away for ya.

Course the female part of his team might have something to say about it!

Allen Schumacher, Thanks! I checked your profile and see you're from N. Plainfield, NJ. I was thinking my son lived there for quite a few years, but I was wrong. He lived in Plainsboro, which is a ways S of you, & worked for NEC there.

Everytime I show a photo of my 122, someone has to go & find a photo of a better looking one! Charlie, that 122 you just showed us is quite a tractor!

Charlie, thats one SWEET 122! You got a good point to argue though

. You got to have better luck with women as I would pick a tractor every time, I find them more reliable.

Kendell, with the individual rear brakes, can you make really sharp turns with the cub? How well does it work?

On a 9n and the like with individual rear brakes, I could make really sharp turns.

Chris:
I'll let ya know after I take care of the PTO issue. The whole assembly, including the SG drive pulley on the crank is loose.. I want to pull it apart and get that fixed before I play at all. The original brake pedal is now NOP, doesn't even center the hydro lever - I'll have to see about fixing that...
