Thanks for the update Cath.!! Dang it's good to see you posting again too!

You're really very kind in your description of the "helpers" and actually helping I'm certain!

Mike..lol. Well the kids believe they are helping, and so they ARE, right? Actually, it would be soooo boring if I didnt have kids underfoot all day helping and if they aren't helping, on my NOT so good days, they take up the positions of Dr. Fancy and Nurse Hannah and Annie. So, I'm covered all the way around, right? Annie is always in the mix, whereever I am. She's one busy teenager.!! She still has an attitude if I DARE say the word NO, or point my finger at her. I find it is rather amuzing how she responds to the word NO, but willbehavve and respond in a postiive manner when I use the strong A on her to stop her from whatever she is doing she shouldn't be doing. lol

This morning Tootsie didnt come down for breakfast, but she finially appeared after Marlin took a little longer to go upstairs, as we were talking. She comes down the stairs, and complains..."come on, really...I am hungry and want to go to my room for the day.". One thing she does every morning is stand on the stairs and waits for me to say " Have a good day" before she goes Up. To cute. This morning I forgot to say it and she just stood on the stairs till I said Have a good day, then she ran up the stairs, all happy.

This morning Annie wasn't around and found her still all snuggled up on the couch sleeping in, so I caught her snoozing..

Oh Mike, it is good to be back and able to post. I dont read what I am writing, as re-reading my post before I put it up is kind of hard on my eyes, unless I enlarge the print, so I just hope my spelling for the most part is correct (which when my eyes were better my spelling still wasn't pristine..lol. Also I hope I dont write something twice , and make fairly good sense. lol

Finally we had rain this morning. It was so great to wake up to the sound and SMELL of rain. It has been sooo dry here after the record rains this spring. The Earth Mother desperately needs the rain, and all living things that flourish on in.

The spelling and grammar are fine.. while we're glad to see you posting again, make sure you're not overdoing it!!

Thanks for the pic, a snoozing Annie is always cute. HMmmm.. seems we've all got sleeping cats! LOL..

Hi Everyone

Allen, wow, I could go for kitty massages, but using catnip. Not in this house, as they all go beserk when they get it, and that sure woudlnt feel to great on the back. I think it might be called torture.

Mike!! No, I am not overdoing it. My eyes hurt, but heck, what else is new? It is so good to talk, to share, however boring I may be at times, with my ramblings. lol. Making the font larger helps, but yes, reading is a huge strain on my eyes. I go to the specialist next Wednesday. Yesterday when I was driving to the grocery store, I suddenly got 3 mega level stabbing pains in my Good eye. Geez, that freaked me. I am hoping that the same disease that is giving me fits with my right eye, isn't advancing, although I was told when I saw the specialist almost 3 months ago, that yes, I have the same fate in the left eye. That was very depressing.I have been wearing a contact in my bad eye since I saw the specialst. That was to lessen the PAIN I had, as with the erosions, every time I blink my eyes, it hurt like HELL.! That has helped but not completely deleted the pain. I WISH.!!! I went to my eye doc every three weeks to have her change out the contact. Thank goodness this ole woman hasn't had to learn to put in a contact and take it out. Pretty cool to be able to wear a contact 24/7. Because of that though I am on strong antibiotic drops twice a day to ward off infections. Every single day, being able to see, however fuzzy at times, is still a huge blessing.

I know the pic of Annie was boring, but she just looked so sweet. She is 99% of the time despite her giong thru puberty. hehehe.

Had to laugh this morning when Marlin again delayed getting upstairs to get Tootsie her breakfast and settled in for the day. The past two days she hasn't come down to eat with us, and this morning, she came down to the first stair where she could see her Daddy and said again " Ok already, get up here NOW" and she turned and went upstairs. I swear she must be using a time clock to insure her daddy comes up when he should. lol.

Fancy did another amazing power walk yesterday too. No fainting spells, no tries at going out to graze, just keeping pace with me as we walked and he turned himself around and made it all the way back to the house. BRAVO Fanc. His little eyes were tearing up so bad from all the pollen. He has major allergies like I do. He has to be losing weight. I can now scoop him up with one arm. I dont think I've gotten stronger, but he's gotten lighter.!! Its hard to tell when you are around them all the time to notice changes, but he doesnt have the budda belly anymore, looking very pregnant. hehehe. Oh when I got home with groceries Fancy carried in all the sacks. I WISH. lol. He grazed while I unloaded. His little body was so hot when I picked him up. Being black he absorbs those sun rays in a huge manner. He was ready to go back in.

Well, everyone have a good one.

Well, I was sitting in my "spot" the other night and Millie was at the front door looking out when here comes a very small black kitten. I had left a dish out that morning with some egg juice left from breakfast for Barney who really likes to lap it up. The dish was right outside the door and in plain view. Anyway, I sit and watch for a minute then try and ease up to get the camera. The kitten saw me and bolted. Since then I have been leaving a small amount of dry food out only at night and it has been gone in the morning.

This morning I was fixing my second cup of java and heard a cat crying out. It sounded rather bad so I went to the back door and the kitten ran from the back stoop back towards the barn. I came back in and put some clothes on then took a dish of more food out. For some reason the kitten was very vocal so I knew where it was. I also knew it wasn't coming anywhere near me so I went on about my business. About 30 minutes later I was outside and heard the kitten under the cover of one of the cubs so I placed the dish at the edge. After a short while I witnessed it eating which made me feel better knowing it was getting some food for sure. I really had no idea what was eating the food I placed out at night. Right now it's still under the cover of the cub and I've seen it eating a couple of times. This kitten is only a few weeks old and someone apparently put it out. I haven't seen a lot of feral cats around but I know they exist. Barney has been coming in so I think he doesn't have a clue as to what's going on. Millie seems to ignore it but Graygirl has been rather close this morning so she may help in easing the kittens situation. I know it's scared to death and really isn't big enough to fend for itself or catch a decent meal for that matter...maybe a bug or two.

I'll keep the camera close by and see if I can get a pic or two. This is all I need now...another cat. I'm not a fan of just taking them to shelters so they can just experience a graceful death. Maybe, if I end up getting it calmed down I can find a good home for it. Oh, the kitten is black with white feet and some white under its chin.

Millie's at the door wanting yet another snack so I'll keep yall posted.

Wayne, sounds like you are busy with a new little one scampering around.! Why do I get this feeling, there might be more? lol. You said it rean to the barn, and my thought was, perhaps you should check the barn? maybe a feral momma had her babies there? I would prefer to think that is the case rather then some jerk dumping off a wee kitten like that.

I had a few thoughts, well marlin and I both did. Take an article of clothing, or maybe even sleep with an old towel you have to get your scent ( and the furkids scents) on it and then put it out by where you have the food. That way the kitten will get use to your scent that way and maybe that will help in taming it down? I bet Graygirl is watching over the wee one. I'm sure Barney knows its around, but cares less, as he's not the " alpha" female, but he is the alpha male, but he doesn't know that, does he? oh NO, thats wrong..YOU are the alpha nale. lol

The weather has been awesome here and so our power warlks are delightful and Fancy is really enjoying the walks. That and he was lost some weight, its now visible. He doesnt collapse now, so we have to call rescue kitty 911, but he makes it to the end of our route and he turns himself around and makes it all the way back without any fainting spells or grazing. He stays right at my left heel as we walk. I think that is like teaching a dog to heel? lol. It was kind of warm when we went out a bit ago and had slober drools. Or maybe he was just excited because I continue to give him ' your're such a big boy" over and over while we walk.. that's his invcentive.. He walks besides me and then looks up and meows ever so often, but boy is he a kitty on a mission with his walks now.

Cathleen-

I have no reason to believe there are any more cats/kittens. The barn is a rather small barn and I just haven't seen any other animals at all for the 5 days the kitten has been here. I'm sure I would have seen something by now. I go out and just talk to it a few times a day. Today she (don't know the sex yet...just say she) came out after about ten minutes of my waiting and calling. I went and got some kitten food to provide her along with fresh water. She eats on the hood of a 129 in the barn and I put enough food out in the morning for that day. I don't want to attract animals at night if I can help it. It's very early yet but I like the idea about using an old shirt to familiarize her to my scent.

Barney thinks there's a monster in the barn. That boy is scared of his own shadow. Millie seems to care less and Graygirl doesn't care much either way. I think they all know it's a baby so they don't pay that much attention. When Graygirl is with me and vocal the little one calls out from hiding.

It's just gonna take some time and I'll have to be patient. I don't know what I will do once I can get close but we'll see. I don't really need another feline amongst the herd. This kitten is only 8 weeks old at the most. I would love to know how she came about here.

Wayne.. perhaps he/she found their way to you with some "divine intervention"? I really believe that's how our Meow-Meow came to us, it's like one day he showed up and moved in! I cannot explain how that cat decided to follow me and my dog home that day. It just happened!

well Wayne, I do agree with Mike F, that this is divine intervention, if you like it or not, this wee one has found its way to YOUR home and to your kids world as well. I am sure they are allowing it to Be as it is such a wee one. This surprize appearance reminds of of almost three years ago when Fancy found wee, 3-4 week old Annie out of the side patio, sitting on a tarp. We had no idea how she got there either, but she found her way to our house and our hearts, and specially to Fancys heart, since he became HER daddy and watched over her every move and raised her. Even if you dont NEED another furkid, maybe she will assimilate and you will find a place in your heart? time will tell. Sounds like she is getting use to you and isn't totally hiding out. We all know how they read our energy and it sounds to me that she is reading yours..your kindness of feeding her and tending to her basic survival needs.((smiles)). The scented shirt/whatever would help, at this age, since they are so attuned to survival and the world around them, scents and what is protective is very important to their pyche at this age.

the kids here are all wishing you the best.. me too.

Cath
