Many years ago while working for a company in West Liberty, Iowa, I was sent on a dlievery to the FARMALL plant in Rock Island. They were assembling the 86 Series at the time. I arrived at the Receiving Dock right at the start of their first break. From what I remember is they like any other factory stopped for breaks such as lunch and every two hours. Since the forklift drivers wouldn't unload me until break was over I asked if I could take a quick trip down the assembly line. I was told that if someone complained or inquired that I would be promptly escorted off the property and my company would lose their contract. I took the chance and believe me there wasn't a soul on the line. Everyone was on break. I can't see the Cub Cadet assembly line being any different.

I need to wait until the dew gets off the grass and then start mowing today. Everyone have a wonderful day.

Marty:
You forgot the Monday Hangover Quotient and the Friday Lets Get These SOBs Out The Door Divider which would shift the final answer about three days further into the month...

I do have pics..they're on my phone and are too large to post, trying to figure out how to get them resized in order to post, the other forums I'm on resize automatically when they're uploaded so this may take me a bit lol

What is happening inside a 128 transmission when I can't get it in 1st or reverse? 2nd and 3rd just fine. Also how do I get the slotted screws out of the foot rests? I ruined my slotted impact screwdriver and all are still tight.WD40 on them for 2 days. Strong raps on the screws with a hammer didn't seem to help. I hate to grind them off.

Dan M.
The shift forks are bent and or broken and or cracked.

WD40?
Well at least you got the water out of the screws, LOL

WD stands for water displacement and does nothing to loosen the rust.

PB Blaster, Kroil or some other penetrating oil and or some heat and a BFH.

Gerry,

That factor was already included in the figures. If it had not already been included, there would have been several thousand more cubs built each month!!

Are you saying if a cub was made on Monday or Friday it isn't as good as the rest?

Dan,

Go to the sandbox section, click on computer question and read from July 1 to July 4.

Jeff B, HARRY - Like Marlin said, of COURSE IH took breaks for lunch, etc. Depended on if the job was one, two, or three shift job. 1 & 2 shift jobs got an unpaid half hour lunch and two 15 min. unpaid breaks. 3 shift job got a paid half hour lunch plus two paid 15 minute breaks. They also got paid for "clean-up time" about ten-fifteen minutes before shift change. The idea was for the workers to put away tools, restock bins with parts or hardware, sweep the floor... but if you were fast, you could take a shower and change clothes in the locker room and be ready to walk out and go home when you punched out.

It's really no different than union jobs still in the Quad-Cities are now.

Well we pulled the head on 8913 and definately have a bad head gasket she ran 10 mintes ith the Accel Performance Coil and we ended up with about 1/4 of the gasket becoming an exhaust port

Question:
I noticed where the hydraulic lift mounted on the 122 the frame has an indention there (the frame is tapered in to make the hole bigger). Will I have to cut out part of the frame to mount the unit on another cub?
Here are a couple of pics of the "indention":

Gerry,

I only have a molecule of information, but I did a little research. According to my eleven cub cadets, most of the cubs were made on Thursday!
You were right about the "Monday hangover", none of my cubs were made on Monday!
yikes.gif

Three were made on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, Five on Thursday, and two on Friday.
I guess that knocks the idea of "hurry up and get em' out on Friday" in the head.

Marty - the answer to your question is no. I believe under "manuals" on this site you'll find installation instructions for the hydro unit which has pics of what it should look like. Might try that. That said, I suppose it might depend on what model you're planning to put it on. If it's another narrow frame I think the manual will be relevant.

MARTY - IH was never a company to play those stupid end of the month, end of the quarter, or end of the year games. They had production plans they followed, and missing that number on a Tuesday resulted in getting called on the carpet Wed. morning first thing. If you make your number every day, the numbers will be there at the end of the month, quarter, year.

NOW.... the foundry I worked for... they shipped 1200 tons of finished castings per month. First week they'd ship me 24,000 pounds, and not ship anything to anyone else. Second week they'd ship me 20,000 pounds, and 10,000 to CAT. Third week they'd ship me 5000 pounds and 25,000 pounds to CAT or General Dynamics. 4th week, they wouldn't ship me anything and 1000+ TONS to Cat & GD, and any other customer. Simple case of the foundry superintendent not able to modify his foremen's attitudes that they should ship something every day, not just once a month. Frankly, the superintendent and ALL the foremen should have been fired.... but there wasn't anyone more qualified to replace them.

Luther awesome idea on a mud flap, i will try it

Dennis,

I was just picking fun back at Gerry. I know, only eleven cub cadets, in no way, could determine production output.

Question about front wheels and wheel bearings.

I had the 1250 nightmare in a parade yesterday, so I decided to change oil, grease everything and generally check over the tractor to assure no problems enroute.

I pulled the front wheels and checked the bearings. The right side had a little up and down play, more than the left side, which seemed to me to be a nice fit. On the left side, one wheel bearing was replaced last year, along with a used wheel. I know it is a little hard to explain, but I am wondering if the right side wheel bearing(s) may be on the way out, and if they should be replaced before a problem occurs.

I didn't notice any damage to the spindle, and it seems smooth with no ridges. There isn't a lot of grease on the spindle, but the wheel rolls very smoothly when spun with no weight on it. Everything seems quiet.

Advice?

MARTY - eleven CC's should give a close approximation, closer than my 3-4 I've had. But I KNOW LVL built CC'S five days a week. You & Gerry only think they did.

If LVL didn't work five days, sometimes six & seven days per week, we would not have run five days/week at FARMALL. Took two company semi-trucks, a common carrier truck or two, plus two AIRPLANES for hot parts from LVL to FARMALL every day.... part of the reason why the LVL plant was built IN the LVL airport.

Brian. It sounds like your bearings need grease. Is there a grease zerk on your wheels?

I know there is a debate about how much grease needs to be in the wheel, but I'm of the opinion: if the wheel is completely full of grease, It won't get water and dirt in there.

I say buy 3-4 tubes of grease and start pumping. Epescially since you tend to put ALOT of higher speed road miles on you cub on your neighborhood drives.
