Here's my 19 month old and my 1973 126, he really loves mowing the grass. When I start to mow the lawn he stares out of the windows and fusses until my wife brings him outside to me.

Ken:
Let alone those "white as the driven snow" front wheels....I was looking in the pics for moose t..ds too, finally see the starved critter behind the fence. Charlie - feed the moose, he's as thin as a sheet of paper er - 1/4" plate...

Todd I.:
One possibility might be a stuck valve - not unusual if the engine has been worked hard and has varnish on the valve stem. It's easy to diagnose (pull the plug and gently probe, rolling the engine by hand. I've popped one closed with a screwdriver).

If you're good mechanically, download the Kohler manual and start reading....

Keep in mind that a good rebuild will almost certainly require a resurfacing of the rod journal, (grinding to make it round) as the journal gets egg shaped. At least one of our sponsors at the top of the page offer this service. There are several other machining operations possibly needed in a full rebuild, too.

Brandon: When you upload the picture the dialog box is looking for its location on your hard drive. All you have to do is navigate to it in the Explorer window that pops up and double-click or hit <Enter> when you are able to highlight the file. If you don't know what folder your pictures are in, you may have to play around in whatever program you use to manage them, but somehow, someway, that information is available.

I'm an old MS DOS guy (actually DR DOS), so I always know (or think I know) which "directory" or folder I'm working in.

I got a set of 24 x 12 x 12 tires mounted on wheels, wheels are wider than the ones on my 1810. Do not know what they came off of but they fit my 1810 that I mow with, just cannot raise the deck all the way up tire rubs the deck. It rides better, 8 lbs. pressure in tires. It does not slide as bad on a slight grade. Now if I can find a set for 1 of my 1650 that would be great! Can anyone tell me what they might have came off of, I was told a Super Cub but they are 26" tires right?

Dennis: Thanks for the history lesson on the evolution of IH Mowing Deck spindle bearings. Perhaps the basic fact is that a mowing deck is not a good application for the "water-pump" style bearings.

Roy N: Thanks for the cross-reference on the spindle/pulleys by SN and model. And also for your help over the phone.) I only know the SN for one of my decks. Notice that, as the dealer pointed out, the "service replacement" for all of them is the aluminum housed / replaceable bearing models.

Charlie: Thanks for reminder that you have parts not available elsewhere.

Matt Gonitzky: Thanks for your ever sage advice.

All: My mind's still not made up on how I'm fix all six spindles on the two decks I'm trying to bring back to life. I'll probably ape Dennis and try to find a way to salvage at least some of the best-working ST745 bearings. (I grew up in New England from old "Yankee" stock and its hard for me to shake my "thrifty" heritage.) Perhaps I'll make a distinction between the "restorations" with ST745 and the "workers" with the newer-style aluminum housed variety.

Meanwhile, I'll play around with the aluminum-housed bearing I paid so much for. If I like it, I'll follow Matt's path and slowly convert them all to the new-style. After Charlie's stock is gone, that may be the only course of action left.

The subject of posting pictures comes up here often , I have XP home and use power toys re-size for my pictures . first I right click and make a new folder.then down load the picture from my camera and send it to the new folder ,Close the camera program and open the folder to view my picture, right click on the picture and power toys will give me an option of there picture sizes. I just left click the small picture and I`am done. takes me about one minute to do this. The picture will show up in my folder with the same name I assigned to it with Small next to it.Up loading is going back to the folder you put the picture into and picking the picture with small next to it.I like to keep my pictures organized to the tractor if possible , I have folders on all my cubs and when new pictures are taken and posted I add that picture to the folder it belongs in.Power toys in XP home makes picture posting here a breeze.

OH Morning Denny !

Monrnin' DON. Yep, the forum is almost like old times, Gerry, KEN, even Hydro Harry post again.

Jeremiah - Actually, I think the ST745 is a good bearing for deck spindles. Wyatt & I talked deck spindle lubrication years ago... He's of the opinion that the outer spindles of a 38" deck actually should be oil lubed, they spin too fast to be lubed with grease.

My buddy refurbished a deck a year or two ago for one of his green/yellow O/T tractors and I think he spent a grade total of $40 for bearings for all three spindles. Think they were about $6/each times 6 plus some sales tax.

Gerry welcome back....stick arounnd you always had good advice

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, and have a question about my 125. I disengaged the drive the other day so I could move the tractor after the battery died, and now I can't get the trans to engage. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff
