Marty "G",
No I don't think the light attached to the seat spring support. I gotta' look at some of my stuffand see what I can find.

Charlie,
Sorry to here of the passing of your friend
JOE HABAN!

Looks like we are getting in on the winter games this week. Don't think any groundhog will see his shadow here for a while!

Weather Guru I watched last nite said 6-9" for Tulsa, possibly more. And winds 20-30 MPH. Not good for this area. Stocked up Yesterday morn. Just need plenty of banter on here for something to do.

KENNETH P. Walter's rear weights are SCALE WEIGHTS. Dad had a couple around the farm 50 yrs ago that got used for everything from door stops to frt weights for the FARMALL 450 on a home-made bracket with two rear wheel weights when we were using the fully mounted Fast Hitch 4-bottom plow.

I guess scale service companies used them to adjust & calibrate small platform scales.

SPEAKING of weights.... wsh I had 5 or 6 of those scale weights to add to the back of the Super H for snow moving duty tomorrow & Wednesday AM. Weather guessers are thinking we'll get 12 to 15 inches of snow by Wed AM.

TOM H. - How much are you supposed to get? Bryan McMeen is in the One to TWO FEET zone!

I am making progress on my two PTO issues I described last week.

With a new bronze PTO wear button and proper tightening of the two nuts on each screw, my PTO is working correctly again.

I will wait until sometime this spring to deal with the vertical alignment issue with the PTO wear and thrust buttons.

Dennis, I thought that what they were. Mine has 50 lbs. cast into it. Like I said, they also make a great anvil to straighten bent parts on. I need to make a carrier for mine. Plus, I have a 4' section of rail that probably goes for 50+ lbs.
In the weather dept., we are supposed to start with rain/sleet, snow to start after midnite. Good luck to all of you that will be outside. I'm hibernating. Oh yeah, may have wind gusts around 40 mph.

Dennis,
As the crow flys I only about 3-5 miles from Bryan. The weather guessers are saying 16" - 20" starting tuesday. Bring it on!

TOM - All these years I thought you were closer to Rockford!

Don't know why I thought that!

KENNETH - Just this AM the early weather finally got around to mentioning the high winds. Yesterday we got a meteorology lesson about barometric Isobars and wind but today they finally said 30-40 MPH winds & white-out conditions.

I put 3-4 gal of gas in the #1 snow mover yesterday when I got done clearing some room for more snow. Still have five gal in another can, plus some I can syphon from other tractors if I need to. I'm set!

It's flurried enough the last half hour the driveway is about half white.

The Grote tail light mounts to the left fender mount.

To use an external style lift rod and blade on an Original, you would need the bracket for the lift handle and the extended style lift point on the blade A-frame.

Thanks Kraig!
One other question if I put a rear spring assist on my Original, will that help lift front and rear attachments? Was that the only one available for the O? Do you know anyone that has one?
Paul

Paul, I have one, I've never put it on my tractor. The bracket interferes with the seat spring so you have to move the seat all the way forward. Mike Masheris made some reproduction brackets and springs. One of his brackets was an improved version that had a bend in it to prevent the interference. He also made some shims to tilt original style brackets to eliminate the interference. Here's 4 of Mike's photos of the brackets and shims:

Note that this bracket has the shims under it to tilt it away from the seat.

Here's the two brackets that I have, an original Brinly bracket and one of Mike's reproductions. I also have some of the springs that Mike was using. At least I think I still have these. I'll check if I do I will considering selling one of them with the spring. I saw your want add... I'll try to remember to look in my shed for it tonight

Kraig,
Is it worth the hassle? Do I need one to lift a newer 42 inch spring trip blade? Or should I just start working out? LOL
Thank you for ALL you help!
Paul

Well, Greg did me in over in the For Sale section. So I'm going to bring up the Super Steer real quick again. Is a S/S axle wider than a non-S/S axle? I would think it would be to clear the tire. I know one will bolt right up to my 782. If he still has one available, I'm going to need to order all those fancy bushings now too. See, I told you just chatting about it would get me going again.

I have a friend with a basic "OEM" cub 100. Will the S/S be too wide for it? He doesn't want the front tires to be wider than the rear. (and doesn't want to use wider rear rims or spacers).

Thanks guys,

Now if I could just find a 50" plow with power angle...

Oh yeah... Will a S/S axle work with power steering? Let me re-word that. Does a P/S cylinder have enough length to turn the wheels all the way? The increased turning is all in the king pin angle right? It will work with a non S/S column?

pandrews/kpeaney it is a42" spring trip blade and it's the original rod inside the frame.the weights are scale calibration weights from a scale co.once they are more than 1.5 lbs they cannot be calibrated, these weigh around 48 lb each.the added weight sure makes a difference..

Paul, I don't have a spring assist on my #2 125 that I use a 42" QA42 snowthower on. I have one for it, but have never installed it. I just use the manual lift, I don't see a need for the spring assist but I bet I'd like it if I had it installed. Seeing that I have a gravel driveway I often use it while holding the snowthrower up slightly which is really a work out. Now that I think about it I might have to install my spring assist for next winter...

Jeff H., did you ever get your BB36 and Original lift height issues figured out?

Kraig,
You'll love the spring assist - I have one on my 125 and with the QA42, if I max out the spring adjustment, the thing is just about perfectly balanced. No Armstrong for me!

Dennis if it makes you feel better I live 10 minutes outside of Roockford and 8 minutes from Freeport, I believe you once said you lived there

I am heading out to hook up the qa36 to the 149 to help the 129 w/42 snow blade...just in case
