Jason, it's 1 above here at the moment and that looks cold!

It was 63 here in South West Ohio Yesterday,,, 35 now,,,
We were in the single digits with below zero wind chills several times over the last couple of weeks, which is brutal working on the roof!!!
I'll take this cloudy & grey 35 degrees anytime!!!

Edit:
BTW I haven't been around this stuff long, but that NOS blade is "Yellow" with no IH sticker

Charlie,

I saw that on CL in my area, if it was an IH built one I might have picked it up.

Did the guy stay firm on his price?

Jim

Dunno what the CL price was, but I got the whole mess for less than what I could buy just the blade for.
There's actually 3 pallets of just blades for sale in Cleveland, they just haven't hit the open market from Cub Cadet yet, but they will shortly! Wink Wink!
So I was happy with the deal.
Besides, I'll have Aaron draw everything up to get reproduced.

Since I've got an NOS blade setup on the way, I figured I better grab a super duty 3/16" thick cutting edge, made out of AR400 to do some yard work next spring.
I figure if it's good enough for grader blades, it should do really well on a 1450, once I get the blade converted to hydraulic angle.

I haven't gone to Aaron's site in a while.seems as close to a bulldozer toothed blade as you can get on a Cub!
Something to add to the wish list!

Since there's not much going on here tonight!
I finally got the Firestones and put them on this morning and went out and played cleaning up around the place where the 1466 can't get.
People can say all they want about how great Vredestein tires are, but I've tried them and they don't hold a candle to the Firestone's!
It's like adding power steering!

So when I replace the front's on my 782 I should get one of each on there and report the results right!?

They definitely should avoid skidding straight when turned

Digger,

Maybe my eyes are crap, but them look like narrow rims with 4.00 x 8 Deestones on your 169.

Or were you talking about tri-ribs in general?

You'll NEVER see a Deestone on any machine I own! LOL
Those are narrow rims with 16x6.50-8 Firestone's on the 169.
The other pic have wide rims, which make them look goofy, because of the extended lip on the 1" bearing wheels.

So do you think it would be better to use 3/4 bearing front wheels switched to 1 inch? That lip is what makes it look goofy. BUT, if the performance is that great, it wouldn't matter that much about the look. My checkered turfs that were on dad's 1450 made it harder to turn, switching out with the 782 ribbed Goodyear's made a world of difference. More than I could imagine. My only concern to use the v-61 over tri-rib is mowing and tearing up grass.

I'm already guilty on deestone tires, got em on 100....

I added Firestone tri-ribs to my 782 a few years ago, they certainly do make a difference. It does feel like power steering. They aren't the greatest in the winter because they will slide around on the least little bit of ice. Sometimes a challenge to get the 782 steered up the side hill taking wood in. Have to get a run at it often to get it pointed in the right direction.

Mowing with the tri-ribs is fine too until I get to the road ditch. I end up with a "trench" where they run due to the center rib "digging in" to the turf. As the summer goes on, if we do not get regular rains, you can see the torn grass where the tire runs the length of the ditch. This year I made a point not to use the 782 for ditch duty.

I am interested in trying out the V's, on the 982 though. I got the tires, just need rims for them now. Don't want to dismount the turfs I have on it now, there isn't anything wrong with them other than its a bit hard to steer with them when the 450 blower is on the 982.

Some day I want to get a set of Firestone Rear Ags to mate up with the tri-ribs. I think it will help when I take the Cub out to pick rocks in the spring after planting the beans. Certainly a lot more comfortable than the 100 on the back end! Dog on steel seat gets pretty rough to sit on after you get over a 10 acre field. You certainly are not jumping for joy to continue on to the next 25 or 30 acres!
