Don,

One of the guys on here just used a 7/16 NF bolt screwed in from the rear of the flange to convert to studs, I plan on doing that for the 149...

Can't find a pic, but I'm sure Kraig will pull one outta somewhere...

It finally stopped snowing for the first time this year today after a week of non-stop flurries and snow.. We have about 16" of global warming in the yard...

Paul B -- The documentation you gave for the 70 and 100 steering wheel styles was exactly what I was hoping for. This really helps nail down what changes were made to what model and when... some very nice information for us purists! Excellent!

Status on the 149..

I also looked for a neat way to control the power chute rotator. Before, there was a switch in the dash, and was non-original. TSC had this little do-dad for a ATV winch that I am seriously thinking of. This would be mounted on the blower itself..

Scott T., it's possible that it was Wyatt Compton that did the 7/16" bolts as studs mod, however I don't have any photographic evidence.

For info on Chute Rotators click HERE and scroll down for several variations both hydraulic and electric. David Kirk did a nice electric version with a switch mounted to the hydraulic lift control on his 1250.

I had a couple of JD 42 lb suitcase weights. So I had a friend of mine make me a weight bracket that I can hang the suitcase weights off the back of my 123. I also had to have the lower lift bracket made, as I designed the weight bracket so it can bolt to it. Here's the pictures:

I have room for one more suitcase weights. With the two I have and the wheel weights, I have about 136 lbs. Another one, and it will be 178 lbs. I used .25 inch thick steel to have this made. Here's the plans I made.

While I had the camera out, I took these pictures.

I have another two Cubs in another shed and another Cub in another shed. This one shown has 5 Cubs in it, and a 6th Cub in pieces.

terry, looks like you need to update your profile then!

Scott:
I just used a DPDT center off bat handle switch on mine - in the dash, lower left hand quadrant below another aux switch..I put a piece of fuel line on the bat handle so I could find it with heavy gloves on..

I pulled the blade off this afternoon and put the QA42 on. I'd forgotten how much quicker the thrower is, especially with a chute turner on it. What's really neat is to be turning the chute while you're rolling to put the snow where ya want it..

Here's what snow removal pics look like from the south.

183743.jpg

It has been unusually cold for over a week now and we have more coming. Usually during the winter yard work goes on as usual. Our normal highs for this time of the year are around 50*. It hasn't been out of the forties for close to two weeks and cabin fever is about to set in. I was able to get more of the fall clean-up done today before we get a predicted "dusting" tonight. This makes about 20 loads I've taken from the yard and that doesn't include what I've shredded for the garden.

Please keep the real snow pics coming; it's the only snow I get.

Brendan, yes it did, but only for about 45 seconds after I posted it.

KRAIG, SCOTT - Yes, Wyatt had 7/16" bolts on one of His CC's rear wheels & standard auto lug nuts. Can't remember which CC it was, might have had that on a couple of them. For a while I had His 72, 73, & 169 mixed in with my "Herd". His "Wheatland" was at His place.
Ahhhh, The "Good Old Days" wrenching with Wyatt and drinking Mike's Lemonade" in the shop. I will make ONE Confession, I made a L-O-T of progress in that time towards My 1985 New Years Resolution of "Getting Organized" (This was in about 1998 or 1999). He'd be working away and stop and ask, "Have You Got ?????" and most times I did, but it might have taken an hour & 2-3 Lemonades to find it!

Mike Frade
Part numbers for the studs I ordered for my Cubs. I find it apita to hold the tire and try to start the bolt lol . so this is a Wagner number BD 61203

Ken,
I had one like that in the upper right of the dash, but I am trying to come up w/ options... I have sausage fingers even w/o gloves, so a large switch would be good... The pic below had my interest because I could mount the rotator control on the hydraulic lift lever, kinda like a joystick... I need a switch for the rotator, strobe, backup lights, and the PTO clutch... I used the old interlock for the mechanical PTO for the electric one, and will probably do it again... Trying to find a location that looks good, yet functional...

Charlie - I had a nice little box of goodies at my door when I got home tonight. Record time -Thanks!

(The shipment actually included a part I didn't order (or pay for), but I'll email you about that.)

Scott Tanner... The 149 has a 107 playmate now....

Thats funny (. I have sausage fingers)
That must be a Tanner trait as I did not get left out there either with a 14.5 ring lol.

Scott T, Theres a replacement switch from IH for the cub light switch you can wire for extra functions. Might be the light switch for a 706 or similar. I don't remember who did it first but I remember Bryan B using it. Backup lights? How the facory wire in the cutout for the pto on the later models?

Scott:
On my 129 , that switch above the chute turner control is an "anti-PTO-lockout" switch so you can start it with the PTO lever in the engaged position (saves wear and tear on the PTO release button if you don't have anything being driven by the PTO). Prior to putting that on, I'd forget about half the time to engage the PTO after starting it when I was running it w/no PTO attachment. The PTO drags just enough to turn when there's no belt drag on it......

In my 129 shop manual it describes both the manual PTO clutch and an electric. Can the electric be fitted in place of the manual. Are there pros and cons?
