DON - I think all that operates the hyd. valve inside Your steering console is a lever held onto that lever You move then something that looks like a master link for a roller chain attached to the spool of the hyd. valve. Looks like that on the newer red tractors, 782 & 982 with the hyd. levers on the dash. I'm not sure how the lever is held onto that that rod You move however. Steve B. has worked with those vintage valves as much as anybody here....maybe He'll stop in.
I can see with that HUGE blade angled all the way the ends of the blade could be behind the pivot pin and the lower corners would drag.

SCOTT S. - The adapting frame for Your blade should have both bars running back to the rockshaft inside the frame of Your CC. Sounds like if You get Your adapter squared up and tire psi adjusted You may be O-K maybe?

Don T,

You likely sheared the roll pin common to the arm and lift handle inside the pedestal on the left where the control valve is mounted. Removing your fuel tank and rear hood support bracket will give you access inside the pedestal column to diagonse your problem.

Dennis, Thank you, and I hope so!! I didnt think it looked right when I put it on in the first place but I also didnt really know either!

Kraig,
I finally got my Windbreaker mounted. Thanks for all the help with the pics!

I replaced the windshield with Lexan.
Now it's prolly my fault if we don't get any more snow.

I used to have a time putting the mule drive on My 129 for the 44" deck I ran with it.....the sissor bar that supports the front of the deck would not stay on the rockshaft while I attached the lift links. I made it all the way out with the deck on and half way across the yard a time or two before I noticed the rotten job the mower was doing....depending on if the bar went above or below the rockshaft determined if the front center of the mower didn't mow or "landscaped".

I always do some swearing when I put my deck on! I had a notion to weld some longer tabs to the top part of those arms, but havent gotten to it. I'll remember when I go to put the deck on in the spring for sure and ask myself why I havent done that yet!!

Does anyone know how thick the discs for the brakes should be? Mine do not work too hot and have good pads, the adjustment rods are adjusted as far as they can go too. I am full of issues because I need to get this stuff done by Friday, before I'm laid up for a few weeks!

OMG!! The roundy fender guy Kent Schultz with a square fender 123?? Gonna snow cats for sure.

Art - I agree with Kraig, Brendan B, and Charlie: clean up the light contacts and solder away. I did mine with a Weller gun; no problem. Oh yeah, like Kraig said, take the wire off first - no sense inviting trouble. And you'll use the gun again many times - mine has paid for itself many times over since I bought it in 1974. (I bought second one at an estate auction for $5.00 last Summer, but gave it to my son-in-law after teaching him the basics).

Now here's something I've never seen before: a box full of brand new tire chains

Of course, I was a high school senior before I knew you could buy new nails! I always thought you just had to pull the old rusty ones out of a wooden fence and pound them straight with a claw-hammer. Yeah, you guessed it - my dad was a teenager during the depression, so nothing got wasted - everything got recycled. No wonder I love old IH Cub Cadets - restore, reuse, recycle!

Kent - drop a 12hp in the 7x with creeper and get rid of the hydro!

Well, I've got the website up and running again but the Hyperlinks aren't working right. Bryan,
thanks for the helpful discussion on Sunday. I'm determined to figure out this website creation/manipulation thing if it kills me.

Check it out guys - a few new products to see.

Don,

Hyd Lift:

Denny has it right, the lever has an arm attached to it on the LHS of the steering column inside the pedestal. The arm is either attached to the lever with a roll pin (most common and most likely to break) or a later style clamp on bracket. Remove the gas tank and you'll see the valve, arm and lift link (double length roller chain master link). It is very likely that the little roll pin has come part way out or sheared off. Clean up the mess and install a new roll pin (sucks to drive on anything under there, but doable) or upgrade to the slamp on style used on the later QL (xx50/xx00) tractors (might have to shorten the arn a bit).

Nice blade and 149...149 is a favorite of mine and a darn good work tractor, seconded only buy the 782 and it's SGT big brothers!!!!

Mr. Roundy-
Nice rig! (Nice 'fridge too...)

Don-
You need one of these.... The improved "clamp-on" version. (black bracket with bolt through it.)

Greg,

Just got a red bag full of new 2 link 26x12x12 chains myself.....nothing quite as neat as unused chains. I have found that the new style chains with the "safety pin" style tensioning latches are very easy and forgiving to install.

Have fun scratching that concrete!!!!!!

Don,

Art is correct, but note that his pic is of a QL, with the column mounted valve. Your 149's valve will be mounted to the LHS of the dash tower.

Advice is correct though...upgrade to the clamp on style.
