Nick,
I have ran into that problem before. I thought that was it also. So to test it I ran a jumper wire from the + terminal off the battery directly to the coil. No change. But while I was waiting to hear what someone would suggest I took the coil off the boys 682 (dont tell him or he will flip) put on there. The thing fired up on one cylinder. Put the plug back in and let it run awhile. Its running alot better than it did even after the new points. So I need a coil to start with. Thanks though. Jim

(In fact me and a friend had a joke that it would only actually fire the split second after you let off the key)

That sounds like the switch is bad to me ! Use a meter and test it or replace it.

Jim H, make sure the case of the condenser has a good ground path. Make sure the Condenser bracket is tight on the condenser and that Bracket has a good clean ground to the Engine.
I think these dual output Coils are not manufactured very well. That's how I acquired my 782. Bad coil to start with, Bad 'out of the box' Kohler coil then finally a good one. Yeah my Cub Started quick and ran great on on cylinder with an old Volvo Coil.

I wonder if it is possible to use one of those Bosch coils and the make a set of plug wires with one going into the coil and two wires to the plugs????

Or am I missing the boat...

Hey Lewis, I've actually wondered if a coil-on-plug from a LS1 or ford car would work. Then just run twin trigger wires and condensers.

The performance value of individual coils is well proven. Maybe it's some I should play with. And it would probably be cheaper than Onan coil!

I got to play today since we had flurries all day. I think right now maybe 15" or a lil more. I think my whole neighborhood is very jealous. They were out there with the small toro's or shovels an then theres me....I got to play all day thankfully
