I recently acquired a 42" blade that i have mounted on the 123... I had to make a new subframe for it and it is all mounted up.. just needs some paint.. My question is this: on my blade, where the main frame of the plow connects to the sub frame has the pin welded solid. I always thought this was supposed to be a removable pin. It worked out for me because I was able to mount the plow while I was tack welding everything together... but if I ever want to take the plow off of that subframe, I'm screwed.. Is the pin usually free spinning or are they welded? I can upload a couple pics if my question/description is not clear.

Thanks for the information. I did wash it off this morning at work, but I didn't try to take it apart yet.

I worked for the local IH dealer from 1965 till 1981. I've put a few of the older models together. By the time the 82 series came out they had another guy doing all of the setup and delivery of the lawn and garden stuff. I was setting up the farm stuff. I used to go to Louisville, and pick them up by the semi load.

I'll check the numbers you gave me Marlin, and see what I can come up with. A regular paper parts book would be nice, instead of all of this computer stuff.

Jason, They were all welded. Ya just gotta use a crow bar and pry 'em off. No big deal, 'cept for the skinned up paint!

Your 123 blade mount could have both styles, bolt on and pins welded in place.

To answer in short, yes, the ignition could have a lot to do with your problem. Also, because the carb has just been rebuilt doesn't mean there isn't something (dirt/water) hindering its operation. It doesn't take much at all. I'd start by taking the carb apart to check the bowl and make sure the timing is spot on. If the coil is good, and it sounds as if it is, I'd only replace the condenser. I've also learned through experience to just put a new spark plug in while you're at it...we just never know.

I hope not. I'm working on finally getting my new rear covers drilled and tapped so I can try using my other 1450 to plow snow for the rest of the season. 100 is fine but I can't raise blade without bothering my hernia. I figured having hydraulic lift would ease the pain! All my winter projects are held up now. Oh well, painting is easier in warm weather anyway.

Earl, glad to see you and Rob aren't banned.

I think the battery in my #2 125 froze during the last sub-zero weather we had just before Christmas. Just prior to that cold spell It wouldn't start. I found out the spark plug wire had failed. I had been cranking it quite a bit while troubleshooting it so perhaps the battery minder couldn't top it up enough from it's drained state. Or its time was up.

I never did get it to start because all the cranking that drained the battery also flooded it.

That's too bad Kraig. I only keep 3 batteries for my 6 runners. No tender, but the 100 and dad's 1450 get run regularly and are in unheated garages, which probably helps. My attached hasn't froze, yet. I have a gallon jug of water on the outside wall that's kept fluid. Dad's is unattached, but he pops the charger on trickle on it for a while every few days if he hasn't run it. I've done the same on 1200, running twice this winter just to run. I put a splash of gas in tank and let it run out. I fired 100 up yesterday on 2 cranks.

Jason - hey what's the story? Did you finally add another 149 to the herd? I seem to recall having seen the one in your pic. I remember the white overspray on the tires, and the pancake or bottle muffler (what ever it is they call them).

Jason W. That is one sharp looking 149. Hopefully this summer I can get the Angel's 129 re-powered with an almost new 14 horse converted to hydraulic lift.

Too darn cold outside right now to do anything with the Cub Cadets. And it looks to stay that way for a few days. However right now I'm still on to pick up a 104 this Saturday and if enough room a rolling 100 chassis.

Marlin, My 104 is scattered all over the shop right now. Just finished dis-assembly yesterday.
The frame and misc. large parts will be at the sandblaster soon.

I would at least like to have it back together as a roller for RPRU in June at Des Moines.
BTW Dates are June 15-16-17
Is anyone from this group going to bring tractors?
I suggested to the powers that be, a display of the IH Cub lineup by series, that is if we can get enough interest and commitments for Cubs to complete each series. I know, a big bill to fill, I'm afraid. I can nail down the 126 slot for sure!

I really hope we can have a nice display w/all of them in one area and not strung all over the place.
