Oh, man.... to keep things on topic. Mike Caruth with his 1450 and tiller tilling up some area for Angel to plant flowers. Taken two years ago.

And just checking in to see if anyone has any possible areas lined up for a Spring Plow Day. I've done some checking around only can't seem to find anyone having the ground not already tilled.

Melody, How tight you make a chain is a lot of personal expirience. An old rule of thumb (my dad) is the chain should not deflect more than it's own thickness with finger pressure. I think thats borderline to tight. The other end of that is chain slap. When running to loose the coast side links are forced away from center and can try to stack up, when they are forced back in line on the driven sprocket it makes a noise (kinda)like a slap, at least as bad as if not worse than to tight. The only real way to tell if your doing it right is time. To tight or to lose will wear parts faster. In this application a chain kept "wet" with good sprockets should go hundreds of hours. just my 2 cents

Tim "T", The second picture in that series is the experimental "steam" tractor. Ypu IHC tried their hand at steam too.

And here I thought a new year would bring something besides the same ole same ole!
I guess somethings never change.
But they just might have to, despite opposition from all sides it seems.

Charlie,
Why do they do that???
I think and I may say,

,the **** out of them green ones that get posted...

I started on the 73 rebuild. The cylinder walls are scored badly. Most likly going to need a bore job. The valve guides are sloppy too. Sure is nice having a heated garage to work in.

Starting clutch job, both plates needed a trip through the lathe. As you can see the clutch disk just delaminated.

Can someone give me a quick lesson on crank and rod interchangability? Will the crank and rod from a K301 fit a K321? Are the main and rod journals the same? Are the strokes the same? Are the center to center dims on the rod the same? Are the pin diams on the rod the same? Are the PTO and flywheel the same? Thanks!

Does anyone have any information on a seal kit for the johnson loaders? Mine are starting to leak due to being abused! Thanks in advance! Aaron

Hey guys, picked up the 1650 a couple of days ago.It looks pretty good.I checked all the usual stuff and alot of the usual neglected parts have been taken care of.The guy I bought it off of was in his early 20's.He said he had all the work done at a cub dealer.
It needs a few small things, blade wear shoes, proper rear lights etc.
I also got the promo pamphlet with it.
Here's a few pics.

Mike "P", That's Brad Datisman. I can dig for some more pix unless he logs on here.

Mike "P", Here's Brad hooking a plow to his tractor.

ok, i did my brothers 782 w/replacement m ser engine last spring, starting hard, low compression, took apart, ring gaps lined up, now my 782 w/replacement k ser2 eng, starting hard, low compression, took apart, same thing, ring gaps lined up, we both had tractors several years, and never had apart. is this a problem w/the the opposing cylinder engine? and is there a way to reduce this short of making sure regaps are stagered?

Dave,

Nice 1650, especially dual hyd!!!

They pull like a mule, but are known for being a bit hard on hood hinges, headlights, and fillings

Nice clean literature as well (IH definately went "70's" on that piece, much more so than on similar ag literature from the same time period)...different markets to try to sell in!!!

Charlie P. I apologize for the off topic pics with the green and orange ones. I just was trying to quickly find a couple of Plow Day pics to post plus ask if anyone has asked around about the possibility of a BIG Spring Plow Day Event being held this year. Go ahead and POOF the second pic. Just trying to get things back on Topic for you. I thought those International Harvester Tractor subjects may upset you.

Rob D. This is the 1450 that Mike C. bought from you. He sold it and now has a 1650 to play with.

(I pray this is more on topic for you Charlie.

Marlin, my guess is Charlie was referring to the off-topic pix of the old IH tractors, not the plow day photos.

Mike P., there are a bunch of HIGH RESOLUTION photos of Brad Datisman's custom HERE

There's some additional photos of the more correct looking muffler that Brad now has on his custom Cub Cadet HERE

Advice on cub purchase. I have been offered a 1200 that has a 14HP Kohler, mower deck, chains and spare 12hp. The 12 hp no carb, no starter. The tractor has a "blow clutch" seller says the flex plate let go and made a mess. Sorry no pictures any advice on price?
