Been away from the Northern home base since November 1..... I need a Cub fix so bad, I started measuring my workshop here (it's 8x17) to see if I could store one in there in the summer. I'd even volunteer to use it here in the park...... An Original would fill the bill.... Hmmmmm

GERRY - My shop when I got my 72 back in '81 was 16 ft X 7 ft 9 inches on the OUTSIDE. Guy used six 2X4 x 8 ft to form a concrete pad for his dog run. The fence had disappeared, but the pad was still there, I used used lumber from an old tool shed torn down from Dad's farm, full rough cut 2X4's, and 1X12's for sheeting to build my shop in about 1980.

Don't laugh, it's still standing. It was a little cramped with a work bench along one end and shelves along the other three walls, had a small storage loft on one end. The CC & mower fit fine, CC & QA-36 was a tighter fit. Even without insulation only took ten minutes for my 75,000 BTU kerosene heater to get it 60-70 degrees inside in winter.

So YES, you need a CC there.... I'd refrain from getting a loader tractor unless your doors are on the end.

Take Charlie up on his offer!

MMO in fresh engine???

Putting together a AQS321 this weekend and was wondering if 20% MMO as part of the 1st oil fill is a good idea.

.010 overbore and crank .010 under w/all new parts.

Thanks!

DAVE S. - The Kohler manual says to break-in with 30W non-detergent oil, but my experience has been to use whatever oil you plan to run in the engine once broken-in works best. In my case, that's 15W-40 Rotella. You may be able to find 10W-30 or straight 30W if you look hard enough. They all have plenty of ZDDP additive in them.

I haven't called to check if either Mobil or Chevron's diesel grade oils have any ZDDP, but I suspect they do, and either one of them would be fine too.

Every place I've ever worked used Mobil oils in gearboxes, had a Mobil salesman try to get me to change my PSD when new over to Delvac from Rotella, I'd have no problem doing that, I've burned thousands and thousands of gallons of Mobil gas & diesel fuel, use Mobil synthetic oils in my two cars, just once I start an engine on a brand of oil I REALLY hate to change unless I have a problem.

I hope you used some good assembly lube on all the moving parts.

Thanks Charlie! was just wondering, the lil' pamphlet on the bottle suggests replacing 20% of the oil with their stuff at an oil change.. I do use it in the gas all the time however.

Been using the straight 30 weight oil from WalMart in all my engines.

Hey,Ya wouldn't know if the 5 and 6 pin Ignition switches like NAPA has will work on a Q/L would Ya? That is without repositioning the terminals in the connector.

Or you could use oil specifically designed for a flat tappet, air cooled engine.
Lucas Oil 30 Plus

Dave,
NO additives till that motor is broke in.
After that is debatable. I've moved to full synthetics on my well seasoned motors.
Use straight 30 and keep it in your heated shop to avoid cold start damage.
