Headed home.

Gol-dern-it there Don Tanner - there ya go again sneaking across the border and getting some of our good stuff. I'm really surprised Frank let ya get away with it. Now I think you just better bring that SNOW back across and give it back!!!
Yes, unfortunately I've seen some of those pics from PA before. I try to only look at the good ones. I gotta agree with ya, what a sin. Geez, I wish I was closer.

K341 connecting rod question: Some say the conn rod is the same for K301 through K341 (+ the M16). Some say not.

Time for the great connecting rod debate, either here or in the Main Forum??

I have a 169 so am wondering what do we collect here? A prize for the ugliest tractor maybe?

geez kendal.....aint no such thing as an ugly cub......specially not a 169

Kendal
We collect pictures, lots and lots of 169 pictures, so we know what's out there. So get her outta the shed and send pics!

Frank - great question on the rod. The spec is the same but Kohler has alot of different part numbers. I'd like to see some discussion. Looks like you need to post on the Main Forum.

Kendal: I should have said "gather".

Harry: This better?
254402.jpg

Thanks for the (embarassing) heads up. It was a wake-up call to pay better attention.
(Still for Harry) we were right about 1 thing. The phone call I got when I cut my email short was my next door neighbor telling me that Lucy wasn't acting right. He did get her parked inside but had lost the rear PTO shaft seal and dumped a couple gallons (out of 7) out of her system. The spare seal I had was the wrong one. That put the screws to Friday. Saturday I made an 80 mile round trip to my dealer (Cub Cadet, now Mahindra, not Mary Jane) and got her back on line. Today we moved snow and she's back under cover, ready to move more tomorrow if I ask her to.
What's this got to do with a 169? When this thing runs, again, and I mow grass all summer with it, I'm going to be looking for a snowthrower for it.
Ever notice that in fishing season we talk about hunting season and vice reverse?

Frank,
I will say that looks much better, I have a 42" blade and someday will upgrade to a 54" because the 16 horses is enough to push most all.

I do have a QA 36 but haven't used it in two years I also had a QA42 but since I live on gravel and hate rocks in the yard.

Frank - am I glad you were home and cut that e-mail short. I think Lucy is tellin ya something. No more use by the neighbors.
Hey, I couldn't quite read the card you posted so I figured I'd copy and enlarge it for ya. How bout fillin us in on the last line that you cut off?

Harry: Good job enlarging! The rest of the story is "wanted you to know. . . you were no cake walk either. (Let's just call it even.)" My little girl is 40 now and just took a new job in Greensburg, PA.
Charlie: I saw a pic (probably here, someplace) of a yeller side panel and liked it. Besides, it reminds me of your yellow finger.

Frank - that's a great card. Hey, now about that side panel, I don't recall seeing one on a 169 or 1x8/9 but I'm up for seeing yours.

Tom Hoffmans 169 found a home.
Thank Goodness for a trusty gear drive to get it to the shed.....hydros don't push worth a darn.

I also picked up a 169 frame from Ryan Mcshane last week. I guess that puts me at 1 1/2 169's.

Looking forward to getting to work in the garage.

Rick Beem - welcome to the 169 fold. Thanks for saving that 169 from becoming a Gear Head project tractor. How bout some more pics so we can see more details. And make sure you get any update details to Art for his database. Have ya got a plan for the 1/2 unit you picked up from Ryan???

Harry,
I'll get pics up as I start digging into it. This one will be all stock.
It runs ok with creative use of jumper wires and cables.Lot's of work ahead of me. I'll get things cleaned up and running good for now.
-Head gasket blown
-carb leaks like a sieve
-Hydro is a grease ball from the motor to the brakes
-weld/bugger fix on front axle pin
-John D##re green panel in place of hour meter
etc. etc. etc.

The 1/2 169 (that's giving it alot of credit).
That is basically a hydro rear end, front axle, pedestal, and a coffee can of semi-related parts. The frame has a rather large notch cut out of it. I'm getting ready to build a loader tractor, so I will probably start here. Not a chance of it ever being a 100 point resto, so the correct police can stick it on this one. It will live again, in some form, which is better than going to scrap.

The dilema on this one. Save a heap of work and slide the serial number over onto a good frame....or repair the PO notch in the 169 frame. I see no difference moving the tag, muscle car resto's get new frames all the time. Who is going to care in 20 years?

Rick- Glad to hear you got Tom's 169. Hopefully that parts tractor will do you some good. I'd switch the serial # tags like we talked about. The rest of it I just considered parts stock...

Someone mentioned that since I had asked for the names as part of the registry list that I should be upfront about mine so - I've got nothing to hide! In the list of 169's mine is 3rd from the bottom.
