just picked up model 102,runs great, has tiller.seems to be stuck in creeper gear.any ideas?also need to know if mower deck model #421 u1113 fits the 102.the deck hanger with the mule drive seems to be too wide for the frame. thanks.

Ked "D",
Pull the creeper off, not much inside of them. Check it out and reinstall.

The 149 frame has made it to the "staging" area before being sandblasted. This tractor frame had been run into something very hard and it took some heat and a little persuasion to get things square again. The quick attach bail was in the shape of an inverted V. I've already got all of the cross shafts/rockshafts loose and will pull them in the A.M..

Tom, from the archives:

Actually, I leveled half of my 3/4 acres with the wood scraper; not every tool needs to be welded metal. Just ask the Amish. Granted, it aint pretty. I used the scraper AFTER tilling the topsoil to be leveled. It held up very well. The bottom of the face of the blade has metal flat stock screwed to it. Here's a pic of my son doing a smaller section of the yard. . . <!-/quote-!><hr size=0></blockquote>

Wyatt,
LOL. Yeah, I've seen things like you're refering to. I guess that's where the Cub Cadet comes in for me. I can't see myself teaming a couple of hayburners and walking in the wake of what they leave behind. I'd rather smell like Marvel. . .
But seriously, Amish still use wood in yokes, running gear, etc.
Another pic of my oldest. . . <!-/quote-!><hr size=0></blockquote>

I have used the Viking level and seed my front yard. The Viking works great on radio control off road dirt tracks, garden tractor pulling tracks and stone driveways.

The wheel weights are from the front wheel of an early Farmall tractor. I think each one weighs 50 pounds.

DALE - So you've been part of an R/C off-road track building crew too!

I'm allergic to shovel & rake handles so years ago SON & I took the 72 & belly blade to build a track one day. The belly blade worked great for leveling and banking the turns. Wasn't worth a darn on the jumps!

Last track we helped on was about 4-5 miles from home. Took the 72 & dump cart AND the Super H/Loader. A Bobcat would have been a better loader but wouldn't have had the style points of an IH.

I never walked across the track without picking up a handful of ROCKS. When tires only 4-5 inches in dia. hit a rock the size of a pea, it's about like hitting a rock the size of a basketball with a car or truck.

allen, that is the teeth for the bucket off of a green one that I am currently storing in my garage for my brother.

I wonder if the lady in the mink is thinking of buying that 123?? Maybe for her "pool boy".

Tom it she may have bought it for husband and I think this is him

Pictures of the 149 (SN 2059047U464260*)I picked up Wednesday (had trouble loading them last night):

It is a good thing IH stamped their Serial Numbers on the equipment ID tag, nothing else is legible.

Closer views of the rear with John Deere seat springs (seat was not included in the deal!). Also pictures of the attachments included in the deal, including two (2) mower decks. The larger of the two decks, pictured last, is tagged "4/4 1 U-1111." I'm told that one knowledgeable prospective buyer labeled it "correct" for the 149, but the same buyer "didn't like" the smaller deck pictured first. Can anyone identify the smaller deck? The measurement from side-to-side of the larger one is 54", the smaller one measures 48." I was shown a set of blades that supposedly fit the smaller deck that measure 44" in total, but I'm not sure but what the blades fit the larger deck. Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out what I've got.

Also included a picture of the QA42 (what I can read of the ID tag is "QA42A 11?1").

TOM H. - THAT's the only good reason to by a Q/L that I can think of...

JEREMIAH - Those seat springs look a lot like the OEM springs. Tough to tell for sure but my 129 and even my 982 have the same looking springs. Just another thing in the long l-o-n-g list of things JD copied IH on.

The one deck is a 44A, the older deck is a 42" steel sided QA deck vintage about 124/125/126/127 and early 128/129 vintage.

Can't remember exactly when the newer decks, 44 & 50" went into production, late 128/129 production or Q/L production but the 44" & 50" decks are nice running decks.

The 44" deck has three blades of equal length, seems like they were about 16" long. The 42" deck will have a large center blade, think it's 18-19" long and two shorter blades for the end spindles.

Is the top of that QA 42A painted red or is that rust?

Jeremiah, looks good. On your deck ?, I have one similar, but larger. When it gets light outside, I will get the model #s for it. Maybe that will help figure out which one it is. Mine is a 48", but measures 60+/- across. On yours, there should be covers over the two outside pulleys, I believe. Should be light enough soon to get the #s. Later.

Found the #s for mine. Doesn't work in Parts Lookup, tho. These decks were 1971-74 vintage from what I see.
On another note, I wonder how hard it would be to have a list of #s of tractors to use for the Parts Lookup. My 108 is 2050043U. But I don't know what others are. I don't remember coming across such a cross reference type list. Would this be hard to make, or a waste of time?
