Oh sure Steve just rub it in.

I'm thinking that dumping the external furrow weights in favor of tire loading, maybe a better set up. Steve, is your 782 loaded on the furrow wheel? You seem to do fine only running 8.5's thats what's got me to thinking that I need to make some changes.

I still can't get by the height issue though. Hum.

Maybe that's what makes the firestones different from the tru powers, the amount of crown.

Simple answer NO! Someone was selling modified adapters that would work with tiller gearboxes tho. Maybe someone will remember?

Here she is. Kinda rough but workable. My wife says its the ugliest Cub ever, although she's not too thrilled about it anyway! I have sprayed the ever livin crap out of everything I could see with PBB. I'm waiting to get the key for the garage it's sitting in front of so no rip-n-tear down yet! Took a nice "family portrait" for comparison on shape of the 104, the 106 is in really good shape, but will get restored when I'm done with the 104......I hope!

PO took the SG for his other cub so I'm going to buy a new one at some point, new wiring harness, VR, tires, an engine rebuild and new fluids and paint, and then see if it will start! It will be my "summer" project, so it will be a slow process. Also need to check the gas tank when it melts for the contition of the inside.

It also has "internal" brakes. How hard are they to get a look at?

At least it's still yellow and white. I think you're too new here to remember the "Batmobile":

BRIAN B. - I think the 8.50 Firestones work so well because they have more lugs than most other ag tires. I can't remember the exact number but I know My 8.50's have either 4 or 6 more lugs per tire than My 26-12.00X12's on the 982. I got My 8.50 'Stones on My 72 for PD #1.0 and I've been VERY happy with them for everything I've done with the 72 since. The extra lugs and narrower width allow them to dig down to firmer ground for a better grip.
I know Steve really watches His set-up on His tractor & plow. The furrow wheel always gets a good bite but the land wheel needs help, the dual or an extra weight or two. I'd like to make a couple of the changes to My Ohio Steel Fabricating plow that He's done to His Brinley. The change to His coulter really helps His trash clearing capability.
I've been to five CC PD's, Steve's three times, a Chapter #4 WI PD, and Travis' once. I've only been happy with My set-up two, maybe three times. And once at Steve's a sheared rollpin in My driveshaft parked Me on the trailer with the 72 after less than a round, but I had an extra weight or two on the land wheel and I was starting to be able to get some HP to the ground. None of My CC's have fluid.
And like You, I have ground clearance issues. When I'm in a furrow much over 7-8" deep stuff starts dragging trash and building up under the tractor. Sometimes I have to drive out of the furrow to raise the furrow wheel to clear the trash or sometimes driving the furrow wheel away from the furrow wall towards the plowed ground clears it. At PD @1 I had a home-made frt weight bracket on the 72 that kept catching trash to the point it was lifting the frt end off the ground and I couldn't steer. It's been left home since then.

SCOTT S. - The internal brake is easiest to get to by removing the whole rearend, and pulling the reduction housing off the front. It's not really something You want to disassemble for Inspection. The parts are relatively cheap, if Your going to go into the brake, may as well replace the friction pucks, the o-ring on the brake piston, and the reduction gear housing gasket. There's a needle bearing on the top reduction pinion and an oil seal on the front end You might as well replace too while Your there. It's just "Nuts & Bolts" with common hand tools and the service manual. Plus You can really clean out the nasty Hy-Tran in the front part of the rearend.

I know i should`t paint this way but the paint room has no heat right now lol. But got something done today. I will see this finished .

Thanks Jerry. Boy that stinks. Gotta deal with a leaky gasket now changing it back and forth.

had a few more questions about the 1100 is it a narrow frame of wideframe what type of decks and blades will work with it? and i found a post a while back saying that there was only 3 wheel lugs on the 1100 and the one im looking at buing has 5 like a normal cub is this right or am i crazy???

Matt, the 1100 is a wide frame, same series as the Quiet Line, 800, 1000, 1200, 1250, 1450 and 1650. Yep only 3 lug bolts, however regular 5 bolt rims fit.

Are the spindle bearings for the older decks as on a 122 or a 1450 still available? I have several in need.
David

Matt, look close at the rear hubs, especially the left hand side, the hub on the 1100 is triangle shaped and only uses 3 lug bolts.

David, have you checked the "Cub Cadet Parts Lookup" website? Easiest way to find deck parts is to search by the tractor model then select the "Attachments" folder from the "Illustrated Parts Lists".

Matt, the above is a good way to see what attachments fit on the 1100....

thanks just to be clear though any wide frame decks and plows should fit right?

I guess I'm going to have to build a BIG garage/shop! My dear wife told me I could only have 2 cubs at a time until I had my own space big enough for more. I would have to to be able to restore one or more at a time!! Said she didnt care how many I had if I had "my own space"!!

Matt, yep as long as the mower deck is not from an 82 series or later Cub Cadet as the belt width is wider for them.

Scott, sounds like she may have given you a license to build....

This will be my 3rd year running this set up
114861.jpg

Tires are 8.50 wide Power Tracs. The main tires are filled with fluid and the extra tire has just air in it. I have an 50 pound weight on each rear tire. I try to run extra weight on the land side.
My Son's 86 runs this style of weights plus fluid in his ags
114862.jpg

He has 60 to 70 pounds on land side wheel and 40 pounds on furrow wheel.

This is my first post so i'll try not to screw up. My kids got me a 102 10HP Cub Cadet for Xmas, It runs great and pushes snow better than you would belive. This summer I may rebuild the motor, weres the best place to get Pistons,Valves,Gaskets. I can due my own machine work but don't know were to buy parts. Also the brakes don't work can they be adjusted or due you think they are wore out?
