"Ya know! I gotta be the luckiest SOB on the planet when it comes to setting points on Cubs.", then I must be the luckiest SOB in the clutch world. I haven't really had much in the line of clutch issues.
As it clearly states on page 27 of the 86-196 manual: " The clutch pedal adjustments are set at the factory and should not require frequent attention unless the linkage has been disturbed or when the pedal movment becomes less than 9/32-inch. When it is necessary to adjust the clutch, turn the adjusting nut (No. 3 on page 29) on the clutch release rod in or out as required to get the proper measurements." Then you're DONE. No swash plate repairing, no creeping when you're away from the tractor and no power loss from the engine turning the hydro pump. The gear drive tractors will sit hours-days without fear of creaping while unattended.
Oh, and BTW I WILL have a clutch in my 168 once the weather breaks and I can some serious wrenching and painting done. In the interim, I'm gathering all the goodies I need to complete the project.
