You guys are great! I sure didn't expect such quick answers. Just what I needed. Looks like I need to weld a stip of 3/8 X 3/4 X 42" to the bottom edge and drill it for bolts to hold the cutting edge.

Charlie, LOL your photo is better, it shows the cutting edge.

Lucas, there is no "equivalent" to Hy-Tran, however you can use SAE 30 aka straight 30 weight oil. Hy-Tran is a special hydrostatic transmission fluid. I suppose you could go to a Farm Supply center like Fleet Farm or TSC and use their generic hydrostatic transmission fluid.

Lucas, that would be straight 30 weight, no 10W- or 5W- or any other prefix, just plain 30 weight.

All you lurkers please note that this is for GEAR DRIVES only, no using 30 weight in hydrostatic transmissions.

some time back I read a post on here about front axels and in general casting of parts. I have a werd bump on my O front axel that I thought you might shed some light on. I can`t think what it would be for . later Don T

Don, I believe that would be bump a stop for the steering spindle to prevent it from turning too far.
