NICK- don't forget about J-B WELD. it says you can use it for marine applications......fiberglass. could be good repair around cracked holes or what not. i have a 71 and a 72, so i never fixed a FBGlass part on a cubbie. just my 1cent.

I suppose I officially wouldn't recommend it, but that same 100 I ran with the 2 spindle deck had the correct deck mounts for a 70 but I was running a 3-spindle deck mule drive on the front and I encountered no problems. The front button clutch was operational so I had two ways to cut power to the deck.

Greg Lippert (Glippert) well Greg i can help on the fiberglass repair on the dash tower. I worked at a (Reinforced Plastics inc) for 22 plus years and picked up a few things.lol First What Nick H shows for resin is fine but the the Boat cloth comes in weight( strand + or - ) You won`t and should use that heavy cloth ( looks like 24 Oz) you should have some strand mat 1 oz and 1.5 oz.
I would grind the area first so the mat will stick fast and not lift later( a must). The repair area must be sanded before repair( not days earlier or you won`t get a good bond) . I would use the boat cloth and polyester resin and use 4 to 8 cc of MEK hardner in the resin. sand and wash the area down with acetone to rid it of all waxes and grease(much important). Get some cardboard and use that to wet out the cloth.put about 4 layers and roll it on to remove air , Deep holes can be repaired like my dash by taking the fiberglass dust and mixing it with resin to make a thick like filler. coat the are with resin with hardner and add hardner to the fill and apply. when the glass dries to touch (tacky) you can put on another coat or move to a top coat. well a trade secret < baby powder makes a great filler.don~t USE to much MEK as this will turn your repair (brown,dark) and will break easy.
items needed to repair fiberglass
1 or 2 " paint brush,,, Acetone for cleaning,,, sandpaper 80 grit,,, Resin,,, Mek,,,Roller.

If the repair is done right you can drill and tap threads in glass and have strength.

GREG L. - Actually DAWN dishwashing liquid is about the best grease-cutter there is and I think they make a powder for dishwashers, otherwise just use normal dishwasher powder on the normal cycle. But if the parts Your cleaning have any plastic, fiberglass, or rubber I wouldn't use the hot drying cycle. I used to have a REAL nice collection of insulated plastic coffee mugs from all My suppliers I dealt with at FARMALL 30 yrs ago and they didn't like the heat from the drying cycle. Metal parts would be fine I think.

DONALD T. - I think We need to get CHARLIE to make Your advice to Greg one of the "FAQ's". It's not often that We get someone to answer questions that REALLY KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING!

good morning guys we are putting the "O" back together working on the steering column.i wanted to refurbish the steering wheel,i was thinking of using the krylon plastic paint on the outer ring of the wheel.has anyone ever used this?or is there some other way to make it shiny and black ? thanks in advance

Lucas, I used ACE brand black epoxy appliance paint in a rattle can on mine.

While dawn is good, I only buy the Castrol Super Clean product sold at Wally World under just 'Super Clean'. This stuff cleans everything... Grease, soot, carpets, BBQ grill, Whitewalls, Siding, Driveways, Garage Floors, and Cub Cadets....
