Thanks guys,, I was glad to save it from the scrapper and pullers(14hp).

It costed me the max I was willing to pay. The deck is shot beyond any use and will end up at the scrap yard.

Now the good is that the 14hp is comming out and going into what I called "149 wanna-be" in the restore/refurb topic. that has a 12hp in it right now.

more pics when I start messing with this new one

Ryan whatcha got there

Jeff-Its a long lost brother to your 149

Art - the part no. is the same for the 14hp and 16hp crank.

Jeff - even the deck should have alot of parts that you could use and not scrap. I doubt all the spindles are bad, and the spindle covers might be worth retaining. I can see getting rid of the skin but alot of the other parts should be worth holding onto. On the tractor itself I see someone probably thought the hydra-lift handle was a gear shift and went pulling it way back. I see a couple tail light bases that may be good to. You got alot of good stuff on that unit. Why don't you think about moving the stuff from the 12hp unit over to this one? Ah heck, just restore them both!!!

Kraig - thanks for the seat info and pic.

Harry - What is a TC-147? The cradle mod will come later as Spring approaches - I've got a lot of irons in the fire between family, work and tractors...

I don't thing anyone liked it when Toro bought Wheelhorse - though they kept production going for about 10 years, same with Lawnboy when they bought them. However, one thing Toro does very well aside from driving great old brands into the ground, is documentation. They have a great web site where you can download pdf's of manuals, part diagrams and service manuals of the Wheelhorse stuff. I wish that was available for the Cub Cadets.

Thanks!
Bill

Bill - correction, the Parts Catalog I have in paper format is no. "TC-157" Revision No. 25, Issued 3-92. It covers Cub Cadet Tractors with Serial No. 400,001 thru 665,000 which is the xx8/xx9 series and the QL series, plus the (odd)1100 and the 76, 81 and 111 which are really Cadet tractors. I don't know if it's still available for purchase. I did purchase mine from Scott Madson at Madson's Service (sponsor link above) along time ago, probably around 1992 based on the issue date. I have to believe it's the same parts diagrams shown on the current Cub Cadet parts link but since it's paper it's easier to reference and see multiple pages. It only covers the tractors (including the engines). The attachments/implements are covered in a separate catalog.

Now, with regard to your timeline - I guess you haven't been round these units long enough to catch a good dose of "yeller 'n white fever", but that's ok. It looks like come spring you're gonna be covered with it. By the way, there is no e-mail address listed in your profile. I don't know how you can be registered on here without one.

Harry - I've got the fever for yellow and a few other colors too! I've got the box checked to not show my e-mail in my profile which is why it doesn't show-up, but I sent you an e-mail.

My biggest barrier to adding to my fleet is - well I had better not say, my Wife/Boss might be reading this forum...

BILL - A new feature to this forum CHARLIE added about a year ago is MANUALS, Way down at the bottom of the forum list page, https://www.ihcubcadet.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.pl?pg=topics

I'm like Harry, I prefer paper parts books & manuals, think mine is older, and a different TC # because mine only covers the older narrow frame tractors. The "TC" is IH's prefix code for parts catalogs for their equipment. I have a catalog of JUST the TC parts catalogs for IH's ag equipment. As you probably know back when your 1650 was built IH was the #1 heavy truck manufacturer, #2 in Ag equipment, & #3 or 4 in construction equipment. The were a "Fortune FIVE" company. They had a LOT of things going on.

I think MTD now owns Toro/WH, along with CC.

For parts and exploded views of assemblies there's the "Parts Look-Up" in the center of the colorful boxes at the top of this page. It takes some messing around to get comfortable with it but it's great information, even shows suggested retail price for parts.

Around where I grew up there were NO WH dealers. All IH dealers had CC's, and a small engine shop carried Simplicity, and the local JD dealer carried JD L&G equip. for a while then sold the business to the Simplicity dealer. So we had yellow/white, orange, and green, but NO red tractors till 1979 when CC's went red.

Great conversation on used oils! Here in Mass. it is a law that if you sell oil, then you must accept the old oil! And as a trade-off each community that hasn't been able to meet some other standard can install a used oil collection center then use that oil for heating fuel in their garages.

Regarding the recycled oil, it's always been my understanding that all oil had some used content. So I believe it's nothing new! It's just a new advertising gimick so folks think "green". I checked a couple older oil supplier manuals and the most I could find of "virgin stock" was in the 60 percent range.

Kraig, in Mass. if the D.O.T. sees your vehicle leaving drips or a puddle, it get's impounded to the garage of your choice! The big trucks when inspected on the highway are no different! They allow NO DRIPS! Any Fluids! I also agree about the used oil filters. There has been a push on how best to handle them.. some are testing crushing / cutting open for separate disposal or some kind of a wash rinse.. stay tuned..

I think Henry Ford had it right! Oil is for lubricating and alcohol is for burning! Our oil would've never run out!

does any one know if a 16hp kohler out of a ford will fit in a 1250, with just a simple oil pan swap? i ran ito a deal but im thinking there has to be a catch, thanks in advance
