We received about a foot of snow yesterday, so I finally had a good day on the CC this morning. This is only the second time this year.

Does anyone know of a shop that can redo the seat cushion on a '65 cub cadet model 100? I'd like to keep the off white color and black seat pan. None of the shops in my area are able to redo it for me because of the shape of the seat and the fact that the material is crimped under the seat flange. Anyone know someone who does this kind of upholstery work?
Thanks,
Jerry O

Jerry O - removed under edit but pics of your seat would be worth a 1000 words.

Kraig - I had a friend tell me when he fixed gas tanks he'd fill them half full of water. I think he brazed them, but I still didn't understand how that would work and why the water kept it from going POOF.

Matt G - I don't know what it is about your pic but your trailer looks like a BIG Mailbox. Are you expecting a BIG package?

Thanks for the info Charlie,
I talked to the guy who did the powder coating and he said he baked it at over 400 degrees -- and he has a home made oven so I don't really know how good the temp control is. Anyway, it'll get repaired and I'll be on my way again.

Jerry, your 100 must have the optional Deluxe seat. Does/did it look like this?

Forum member Art Aytay had two recovered a few years back. I believe he had them done at different times. Not sure if the same shop did both. Hopefully Art will post more info. Here's his photos:

Harry, yes I have heard of people filling them with water to work on them.

Kraig - Oh Great One Keeper of the Photos (and keeper of much more knowledge than most of us) - how come you didn't say I was wrong again, and nana na na na na!!! Nice Deluxe Seat by the way. I did edit out my error.

Now, on the water in the gas tank - doesn't it just steam away from the heat? And if you braze doesn't it need to be a dry surface on both sides of the hole?

Charlie - yup they're all awake and trying to figure out how to sh- - can the Governor. I see a drawing with a footnote that really appears to be an NLA part for a 169.
While I'm at it - your drawing cuts it off, but it's sure a lot nicer with a little longer output pipe. If it doesn't cost much more it could look like this pic posted above.

Harry,

because you know way more about the later models. Team effort.

(and yes I know I have a Quiet Line hood hinge which causes the hood to sit up ever so slightly when closed, but that original piano hinge of the 1x8/9 series just doesn't hold up well after a few years).

Thanks Hydroharry,
Here is a picture of the seat I'm working with. I'm pretty sure that the seat is the original, but it may not be and the relative who originally purchased it has Alzheimer's pretty bad and can't help me out. What do you think?

Jerry O - answer really should come from Kraig or Art (but it sure looks like a DEE-LUXEE seat to me). Is that torn covering vinyl, canvas type, or cloth material?

Kraig, my seat looks exactly like the one you posted, just a lot older -- now to find the shop who did the work for Art Aytay.
Thanks for your help,
Jerry O

Wide awake, Charlie.

Will it come off the drawing board? They're at least a $200 item from the few I've seen on the auction site. I guess that's just $5 a year over 40 years.

I've heard good things about these guys:

Speer

I know someone who had a Cub Cadet seat covered and was very happy with the results. I think you can send them a seat and they'll match it pretty well.

Boy lots of posts to keep up with. I had to check twice to see if Al Valle had posted about the starting problem with his 1450 but I don't see anything. Jeff must'a runt out a popcorn by now.

Steve - Mr. Plow - that was a good catch on Al's front axle being reversed. I sure missed it.

I'm not going to get away with reusing this, am I? It belongs to a 149 that I got last summer at a great ($200) price. It looks like it was the wrong button for a non-brake PTO and was tacked to the springs which took the integrity out of the springs tension. ?

What Harry said about Al's front axle.

Matt G.

The trailer doesn't look to have a great deal of tongue weight. I don't see why your design wouldn't work just fine and maneuver well...even with other style trailers and more weight. It also looks to have enough tongue length for sharp turns.

The one I made works well with all of the weight on a QA mule drive and the front axle. I can do pin-point placement with any trailer it can work.
