Thanks for the offer on the Carb heat sheild ,but I found one I think will work. I have decided to just cut out the heat sheild where the spark plug will go using this head.I`am thinking of painting it all black . What do you all think of a complete black 12 k.

Not sure if even posted here before, I used to post sparingly on the ihregistry site before it went down. Here's my 125 that I restored two years ago and put to work. I just finished getting it ready for snow duty with the QA42 w/ 3.5" pulley and 1/2" belt, rebuilt gearbox, new ags and weights i just got off the auction site. Problem is they're wheel horse rims and the offset is a little shallow. Let's see if I can make these pics work...

Just finished(it'll never be this clean again!):

Ready for snow (i actually just slip-plated the chute last night):

Too much offset on the wheel horse rims:

Lucas, that Original and spring trip blade belongs/belonged to Ted Shushereba. Here's more photos of it and that early spring trip blade:

BTW, Ted posted those photos back on October 20th, 1999. I believe he modified the tie rod ends and may have posted about it. I'll see what I can find in my archives.

Don, ummm, that was me that offered...

Very nice 125! My favorite model.

Don, IMO if you put an all black K301 in a 125 it'll look like a replacement engine, which it very well may be. If it were me, I'd paint the engine yellow so it'd look like it was original. But that's just me. It's your 125 and K301 paint it as you wish. One more thing, that appears to be an original non balance gear block and has the filler and dip stick mount on the S/G side of the block as would an original spec 125's engine, all the more reason to paint it yellow.

Mine was replaced in '95, hence the black block. I painted most of the covers yellow for the heck of it.

Lucas, here's a little forum conversation from back in the early days regarding those grease zerks:

By Ted Shushereba (Master scribe...Keeper of the Scrolls) (Tshushereba) on Tuesday, October 5, 1999 - 09:43 pm:

Wade, Harry, Rev, et. al.-

When the Rev went on his quest for an oil bath air filter decal, I supplied the photo off my un-restored original, and he is correct-it does go on the cup on the bottom, just like the pictures show in the original literature.

Also shown in the picture is the white belt guard. As far as I can tell, it and the plate for the three point hitch were painted white the first year(as were all of the accessories), but sometime after that (and definitely by 1963) they were painted the same color as the body of the tractor, yellow.

I thought I would post a couple of undercarriage pictures of my '61, SN 2344. Note the castle nuts and cotter pins on the steering linkage at the front axle. Most people use nylock fasteners today. The only problem is that they are rag catchers. The careful observer will notice what is not stock in each picture, although it is a little easier to see in the second one.

Ted, is it the grease fittings on those ball joints?

Wade-

You are right. Only someone who has put in more time on an original than can be justified to a wife would notice that item. You did an EXCELLENT job in restoring your '62, and ought to be proud of it. The reason I have the grease fittings is because without them, the joints run dry after a while, and you end up replacing them, or having sloppy steering.

A few weeks ago I posted a picture of my engine, and someone was quick to point out that the fuel line should be copper. I know it should, and it will be as soon as I go back to visit my Dad, who has a tubing flare tool so I can get the proper fit on the joint.

So, knowing the crowd we have here, know that we are being critiqued by the best, and that it is in the true spirit of restoring the best to keep them the best.

DONALD - Just don't paint the fins on the cylinder block or any of the head. I also don't paint the diecast backplate under the flywheel but nobody can see that, Ohhh don't paint the carb either. The air filter housing yes, just don't paint the carb body or float bowl.
KRAIG makes good comments about yellow being original, but BLACK doesn't show dirt & grime.

Rob H., I kind of like that wide stance look you have going with those Wheel Horse rims. Would be a good thing if you had a loader on it. Hmmm, that might be a good detail/idea to file away for future reference should one ever find a loader...

Rob Hampshire

Now you just had to post a picture of a Sweeeet 125 lol , I just have to be able to use this 125 i`am installing a rebuild K into. I do agree the wheels su^k, if the correct look is what you want. But hay yours is working and a nice Cub. Wheels will ? ,can be added later .

Kraig

Wow

,Yep I just looked back and saw originator post

. Thanks for the Offer , For you I will get some yellow paint. If this will make the right engine then why not , all the more reason to .agreed but well Denny has a point on the black . Oh and I have never painted fins or heads. This will be my third rebuild and I have never painted those parts you spoke of. Here is my 129 loader engine . Its a little dirty after all the use it gets every summer.

Heck, I'd trade 'em straight up for Cub rims if anybody wants them... that would save me from having to put them up for auction/sale since I'll never use them.

I have longed for a pair for my 100 !I have enf Cubs to keep me going awile .I have to find the points holder and well I have the wife using the shop (because its warm) to put or car in overnite so that gives me a space problem. I have to get more parts in my new shed so I can work on both the 125 and the O at one time.I will be spraying paint after Xmas and can have 125 ready also. Its 64 deg here in the shop so paint will cure on the 68 deg floor nice. The themostat is 6' off the floor.I used Hot Purple and have washed the parts. So now its just sanding
bash.gif
to do.

Don, you want a pair of wheel spacers for your 100? These are not for dual wheels, they are just 3" spacers to add a bit of width to the rear wheels. This set was custom built by Dan H. for Travis S. for an articulated Cub Cadet project that Travis was working on. When Travis decided to scrap the project and sell off the parts I bought the spacers for the Cub Cadet based Utility Vehicle I've been planning on building for many years now. I have changed my plans yet again, so I may not need these and have been thinking of putting them up for sale...

If they were here they might work on this .

I'm actually thinking about taking the loader out for it's maiden voyage one of these days if the sun will shine a little.
It's poised and ready!
