David Schwandt, For my QA36A I use
Gates A28/4L300 V-Belt and not had
any problems with it. Can find it
at most automotive/farm supply store
like TSC or Bomgaars(our local supply store).

K341 has the dipstick outside the sheet metal?

David S - just goes to show you, you can't believe what "everyone" is telling you. Most of the time "everyone" is wrong, and most of the time Charlie is right. All I'm saying is it's your choice - you can believe everyone or you can believe Charlie (hehehe)

Vincent T., the final bore size selection needs to happen after you or someone measures the amount of wear & taper in the cylinder. Then select the next size larger to remove the wear/taper/defects.

But maybe you already knew this..

Mike Frade

you know the bottom of the cylinder will wear egg shaped and the cylinder will need a piston to be bored to fit. I had a Cub 149 cylinder computer bore to take what was needed to give the spec I wanted from the cylinder. I straight .020 bore does not work.! I ended up with a great engine.

David, FYI CC online ....QA42A/ 55053C1...$16.94 + s/h $6.99
15"+ on the ground, blows much better today. Neighbor has 6'+ drift in driveway..waitng for farmer with end loader. He's subcontractor plowing 22 hours, got home finally this afternoon. Still a couple of cars stranded from overnite between here & town(2.25 miles). This afternoon 2 highway graders & 2 plow trucks open up road & wing snow back.
Oh yah,The QA42A had good workout today.
Still some county rural areas without power...

Don T., I know that all cyliders wear, not always in the same pattern. Measurements need to be taken at the top and bottom and 90 degrees apart also in order to find the wear / deformation.

I usually set mine into a Bridgeport with dial indicators and monitor the taper from top : bottom, but then not everyone has this equipment. If you don't have access then you'll need professional assistance to help complete the repair(s).

All I was trying to say was, don't buy parts without getting measurements first, period! HTH.

Wierd, 2 count 'em, Two CC dealers both told me they were NLA today and one of 'em I spent big buck$ with this spring for the GTX2154LE. And I knew I had the number right. Any way, I picked up a Gates belt this afternoon to get me back in action (thanks Brad) but that ain't the total problem. The QA also has pulley, set sctrew and keyway problems. Now I know why it only went for $15 at the auction!!!

And the 1200 has more mount problems than just the ISO mount bolt that fell out yesterday. Today, she lost 3 of the engine mount bolts!!

Not to worry, I dropped the QA off the 1650 and swapped the blade onto her. I'm here to say, now that is one snow plowing machine w/chained up weighted (48#s each) fluid filled tuffs plus me
I can darn near run out of HP before traction off a solid surface!! I kind of got that impression yesterday when the thrower plugged and she just kept on pushing a huge pile on across the road!! Anyone ever try to rig up a wing on one of these blades!!??

Theses two pictures scream advertisment to me!!

The first one is now my all time favorite.
16 ponies will do the trick

Mike Frade

I know some people one her that have not followed that great advice ; its to bad that they wasted $$$ .We can only suggest what should be (needs)to be done!

Charlie,
Is it need to have BOTH the upper deflector and the end ones to make a QA42A blower work correctly if I was to upgrade? Or can I get away with just the upper delfector to turn it into an "H" wannabee?

How many "H" blowers have you seen around this forum? Just curious how many guys had them.

We started getting wet snow last night about 10:30pm or so, then this morning after getting about 2 inches of the wet sticky stuff it changed for the better. About 8:00 it turned into BIG flakes and continued throughout the day. Heavy at times, still showing. Its a lot finer snow, but its nice. Up to about 8 inches on the ground now. The weather guessers say its supposed to call it quits late tonight or into the early morning. HOPEFULLY it sticks around throughout Christmas! Could handle a white Christmas this year for sure.
Had the son break out the Cub walk behind today before he went to work. Cleaned out the wet sticky crap incase it dips down cold tonight and stiffen's things up to the point of NOW removal!

Can't wait to get the QA42A on the modified 782 when the time comes. Maybe this year I will only get the blower on the stock 782. Might be missing out on the cab until another year? Time will tell. Definately need to get through Christmas first.

Charlie, I believe David was asking about wings for a BLADE not a QA snowthrower...

Mike P- I use a Haban H42 on my 782. I works great, I am very happy with it. I did upgrade the drive shaft which is the weak link on those things. It now has a shaft from a QA42 on it. Fit perfect once I switched out the yoke on the gear box end of the blower.

Thank you, Kraig. I didn't buy the snow blower, but was heavily tempted by another piece the guy had. I still may take a plunge.

I must be crazy.
