I was researching some engine heaters after reading about magnetic heaters on this site. Kat Mfg has a whole series of heaters. They are sold retail at car parts stores. I did not find a website for Kat, but this website has a lot of products and if you drill down you can even find installation instructions etc. For instance, they have flexible silicone oil pan heaters, but they are to be glued to a flat bare metal surface!

Matt:
You can get the real thing from one o' those sponsors at the top of the page, and be assured that it fits. BTW -be careful about borrowing pics from other sites and reposting without permission, things get ugly at times.....

Ken:
I guess it's time to go to a 782D - they've got an in-line heater that goes right in the radiator hose for them......

I'm not sure what topic this falls into, way IH and way cool. I've been begging my dad to go through his pictures and see what history he might have on His old Cub Cadet Original. And he dug up these from a Centenial parade in Tripoli, Iowa.

Now that's a cool parade float.

Incidently, he found a pic of his Original dated Feb 1971 (I'd have been 4 months old)
Gota love the caption my mom wrote

I am ready to start painting my 169. Will the Cub Cadet paint stick to the fiberglass console? Or should I do some other prep work? Thanks

Rick:
Great pics ...MORE ???

BTW - there's 22 more minutes to edit your post (put a return between the pics...).

Kendall, you must need a bigger monitor!

I have not sifted through all the (bags) of pictures. Those caught my eye and I just had to share.
I'd like to know more about the fella's that did that hitch. Looks like possibly an ? IH dealer ?

I'm trying to track down the pictured Original, I thought I already owned it, but it turns out I have its replacement.
My parents and grandparents shared the Original in the picture...and when my folks moved (and sold the Cub) my granddad bought a Second Cub Original.

I do have a couple names now to work with thanks to my dad....I might find it.

Kendell, i was refering to how far the lamps were sticking out from the plate, on peoples tractors it looks to me as though OEM ones stick out further?

Tristan, I fought with my 149 on the loose Q/A hookups. Just a bit of wear om the latch lever will turn loose of an attchment. Stinks to nearly back over your mower deck!!!Weak spring or missing spring will let the locking lever tabs wear too fast. Vibration wears away a bit of the metal and it will not hold tight.

Wasn't a V-W coil also a resistor style???? They shouldn't want $50 for an old V-W bug coil?????

Rick:
Nah, I'm running 1280 x 1024, but there are still a lot running 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 and a pair of pics posted side by side will force a scroll bar on their browser... I believe the defacto width standard for pics is 640 pixels - I know I've reduced some to 320 pixel width and posted side by side without complaints, but ya go higher than that and Charlie or Bryan usually ends up putting in the return for ya (and they'll usually let ya know, too)..

Matt:
OK - you want an opinion? -I don't like 'em.
You want a second opinion? - I still don't like 'em..
BTW - posting pictures of E-pay stuff on here is like pokin' a stick in our sponsor's eye(s). (That's my opinion too....)

Anyone know offhand what size crankshaft key for a K161. I'm thinkin its 1/4 x 1/4 X 2. Thanks!

I had an interesting time with the battery in my cub. This past summer I put a new battery in my cub, no problems until about 2 weeks ago. I had not started my cub for a few weeks at that point, batt was dead. Charged the batt for an hour(12V 10amp charge), started fine and charging system checked good. Cub sat, til this past Friday. I went out and nothing not even a click. I removed the battery from the tractor and put it on a 12V 2amp charge for 5+ hours. Then I took the batt to my work Sat morning and did a load test. Failed the test very quickly. I carried the batt to the auto parts store nextdoor. I explained the situation. The counter person then put a VOLT meter on the battery and told me the batt was good because the meter read 12 volts. Long story short, I got a new batt, load tested it, passed test. Cub is back in bussiness!

Cory, not much of that bolt left. If you have access to a set of torches, I would put the piston at BDC and heat the area around the bolt cherry red. Then, with a good set of vise grips start working the bolt loose(back and forth). You may have to reheat the surface and repeat. Now if you don't have access to a torch set. Try soaking the bolt with a good penetrating oil for a few days and then try the vise grips. Last resort, center punch the bolt and drill out with left hand drill bits. Personally, I don't use easy-outs. If you think drilling the bolt out is hard, try drilling the easy-out. Good luck!
