DAVE C. - If you've got 5-1/2 ft tall drifts... I'd get something more like this.... http://www.tpaktopc.net/images/hough/HOUGH%20530%20WHEEL%20LOADER.jpg

Still related to IHC, just what a CC would be after it grew up and took steroids!

Thanks guy's. It works great in the snow just wish it was a little higher. Ray I think the originals are on the top of my list. This is one of the three I have. I have a couple others a 70 and a 100 and my grass killer is a 1282, but I love the "O"s. I just love the looks of them.

Denny, for 5.5' drifts I think I'd want this:

Though it'd be better if it too had an extension on it.

KRAIG - I'd prefer the NINETH tractor down on this page, IH 3488 Hydro w/D-466, MFWD, & frt mounted snow blower. http://swensontractor.com/international.htm

Kinda a rare tractor even without the FWA let alone the blower. Too bad it's sold.

Lot of low production number tractors there. The 20th one down, 826 Gas Hydro w/Excel Diamond cab w/heat & A/C would make a nice snow-mover too. It's one of only 68 ever made.

Dennis Frisk
heck I had to look at them all.

allwheel drive with a warm Cab and front hyd V bllade and a blower on the back. One could go in confort and make some $. Well where these guys get Lake afect snow one could use that. No snow in the forcast (14 days). So I might paint some side panels.I love tractor pictures

Denny, I guess if I had a wish list of snow removal equipment I might have to add a Sicard SnoMaster Jr to the list. Here's some photos of one that a friend of mine used to own.

KRAIG, DON - Yep, and he's got other brands too, also pretty rare low production models & attachments. http://swensontractor.com/

Last Friday I made a parts run to get the last of my $150 worth of new brake parts for my #1 snow mover and I grabbed brochures for the new small FARMALL tractors Case/IH makes. To equal the capability I have NOW with 3 CC's & two Farmall's, just the new tractor alone, no loader or mowers, or other attachments, MSRP is over $42,000. That is 4 WD, but a shuttle-shift, 12 fwd, 12 rev. gears, not a hydro. But cab with heater & A/C. I think I'm keeping all my OLD IRON!

AND Some people wonder why we play with 30-40-50 yr old equipment?!?!?!

KRAIG - That is an AWESOME looking piece of equipment! I bet there's a HUGE IH engine in the back to run that blower. The twin exh. pipes give me the idea it's something like an IH UD-16, 18, or 24. IH had a really BIG chunk of the stationary engine market back in the late 1940's & 1950's.

Kraig-
I wonder how much electrical cord you could get wrapped up in THAT blower? Sure would make the tedious job of taking the Christmas lights off the house, "not so tedious".

Then again when you were finished you'd have to rehang the gutters and soffits!

Art, LOL

Denny, there were two engines. The engine in the front was a 4 cyl., I seem to recall it was a Chrysler, it powered the vehicle drive. The engine in the back was an inline 6 cyl., and I recall that it was a Hercules and it powered the snowblower. Sure wish I had some photos and/or video of it in operation.

ART - That thing could probably pull the whole ROOF off!

KRAIG - I suspected the vehicle drive motor was up frt under the little hood, and the blower motor under the back. Chrysler & Hercules also made industrial engines back then too. Waukesha, GM, Continental, Buda, even Ford, and today's companies like Detroit Diesel, Cummins, CAT/Perkins.

I've seen videos of them running before. They throw snow pretty well.

Kraig M

I feel bad i`am not getting some snow

. Can I use a hyd lift on a 147,The pump should work on a NF tractor.Corret,?I see a lot of 125 have them also
thumbsup_old.gif

Charlie,
When you posted the pictures of the side extensions for the snow thrower, I realized they would be a good purchase for somebody with a QA-36 and the wide rear wheels.

Don T.

Yes, you can install a narrow frame hyd lift on a 147, BUT it's not bolt on by any means. You need to add a drive pulley to the drive shaft hub, as the 14 hp screen covers the std. drive hub belt groove. You also need to deal with the mounting ear on the 147 frame (cut it off) and slightly modify the rockshaft arm.

I have done the conversion 2x, and it isn't too bad, but definately requires more than just "bolt on" skills.

Steve Blunier "Mr. Plow" (Central IL)

My 147 is wired for the electric lift and has a lift arm not quite installed. so I think I have all I need to make this work.Pump will come soon. Thanks

Charlie, Scott and Donald,

Thanks for your suggestions with the cub cadet and the blade. We finally got the chains on the wheels and the blade attached today. It did a really good job of plowing out the driveway and 24-30 in. of snow. It doesn't lift, but it pushes really well!! <G>

It came off of the 169(?) and attaches to the 1650 fine, just doesn't go up or down. Here is a pic of the boys in action.

Yes, we do have a rototiller still attached to the back for extra weight. Probably the next purchase will be some wheel weights.

Thanks for any thoughts now that you have seen pictures!

I don`t know what you have there for a blade but I don`t see a sub frame and I don`t think that is an IH set up.take a picture of the lift area (sitting on the tractor right side foot)and I will help if I can. Previous owners change around things that make it hard to comment on ! 150 lbs will help the chains bite and you won`t need the copilot. I run 125 each wheel and love it.

Beth,
That blade doesn't look like a factory blade... the subframe looks "unique"... what did you find out on the rockshaft? pins? the spirol pins could be in the tunnel, or on the outside where the lift bar attached...

Looks like you have the same snow as I do... I'm at 36+ inches... Last night was brutal.. we were on a squall line all night..
