Steve B

Thanks for the insight. Yesterday the clutch slipped a bit when we turned the snowthrower auger by hand, so we thought it might free up on its own if we warmed the garage. That didn't help. The tractor is difficult to start with this problem, but I was able to get some extra cranking power by jumping it. After the tractor started the snowthrower continued to spin even with the lever disengaged. I even ran it in some light snow hoping the extra load might be enough to cause it to shut down, but still no luck. The button is tight against the PTO -- we removed the grate to check this close up, and there were no obvious signs of problems. It appears a closer inspection of the PTO assembly will probably need to be our next step...

Steve B -- I forgot to mention in my last post that we tried numerous tightness settings with the turnbuckle (barely tight and very tight) and the PTO never disengaged. Your observation about overtightening it was an interesting one, though. Didn't realize that could prevent it from working.

Melody S. No room to hide anything anymore. I'm guessing the 127 also. The 782 will be brought up to par so the neighbor's daughter can use it to mow lawns and earn some much needed money for a car for herself. Pat Z. and I will do all maintenance for her on the equipment. Any profit will be hers to keep. She is a very responsible person and I don't loan the Cubs out to just anyone.

Marlin, That sounds like a good excuse to get that 782. Very admirable. Angel can't kick about that.

Hasn't Don done enough? With his blower running backwards, he created a low pressure vortex that is circling over Maine/Nova Scotia that is causing the Low pressure system there to stay, causing 3+ days of lake effect snow over my house!! We have 2ft of snow, and my cub is still not together...

Luckly, my kid's boss let his have the plow truck to take home, so I am bailed out once again...

Cleaned up the S/G on the 149 last night and painted it... This time I suspended it in the air with a substantial cable, so it doesn't bounce off of the floor again...

I did change the spirals around and got it running the correct way. I`am kind of hoping for some snow to try it out but 2' is more than I need for that

.We did have about a 1/2" last night and a broom took care of that.

DONALD - I'm just sitting here at the 'Puter where it's warm. Too cold to do much outside, wind chill is right around Zero deg. F.

CHARLIE - The Weather-Guessers are saying we'll get below Zero within the next week once your done enjoying it!
I checked my thermometer and it's 15 right now, sunny & pretty calm. So it's warmed up more than I thought. Still too darned cold to go to the shop!

Charlie,
That's too cold for me. That's the reason why I live in Missouri. Here's today's weather in beautiful down town Bonne Terre.

The end of the week really looks nice - I might have to be "sick" Friday. The weather gurus are watching Saturday into Sunday. Saturday is supposed to start off nice, but with rain and then the bottom falls out. Notice the rain in the forecast for Saturday, then the temp for Saturday night and then Sunday. The weather gurus are not saying much now on that pattern. But it could get more interesting than I would like.

Dennis, I am right here with you. I got the front blade and chains on the 106 on saturday to get our 4" of white stuff moved. I still need to change the 30 weight oil out to 5w30, put the front blade on the 1650, put the chains on it, and change it's oil yet. It is supposed to be 27* on thursday so may do it then. Oh and I still need to put the weights back in the rear wheels of the 106. It still did a good job this weekend but the 65+#'s more in each wheel will help. I let the M sit out this time.

WES - I spent most of this past weekend in the shop. Did some work on the truck, put the frt blade on the 70 and tried it out about dark. I need more weight! I have about 100# total on the back, pair of off-topic weights plus 60# on the drawbar. Sunday I spent 2-3 hrs and got the Super H ready to push snow, put the chains on, swapped the bucket for the blade & cleaned everything in under a half hour and had stuff all put away. We had about the same 4 inches.

When I was 20-30 yrs younger it was FUN to play in the snow. Now it's just more work. If I could sit in a heated cab in a light jacket or sweat shirt it wouldn't be so bad. I've got Carrharts & pacboots rated to 50 Below but when I get them ALL on I can hardly get on the tractor! Kinda defeats the purpose!

Wayne,
You're gonna like that 147. That's what Marlin H. told me when I got mine. It's a gutsy tractor.

One more pic, because I like to look at my yellar tractors. . .
