Mag 18 swap is easy, all bolt on except the ignition wiring. May be as simple as swapping ignition switches, or may require some basic rewiring/relay install, but no big deal at all.

I'd want the 18 mag motor any day.

BTW, aside from the paint and possibly the rear end (depending on how early the 782 is), there isn't a hair's breath of difference in the machines. If the 782 has a black front axle and 5 bolt drawbar they are exactly the same machine, save the engine.........unless it says "Chicago , IL" on the serial number tag, it's an MTD built 782 anyway........

Am I off topic? Sorry, I guess the 1811 is MTD built, isn't it? What are the main differences between the two?

Thanks Steve. This is the original IH model, it says Chicago on the ID tag. By the way, I work with your dad at Stollers

John H.
The main difference is,
One is red and the other is yellow and white!

Digger, what do you mean by 3 turn steering? I noticed the 1811 did seem to steer nicer than the 782, but I attributed some of that to the fact that the 782 has a deck on it and the 1811 doesn't.

John,

The worm in the steering gear is cut differently to add a 3rd turn to the wheel to go lock to lock....big reduction in steering effort.

Keep the 1811 as is, paint the frame black and the tins red then decal it as a 782 and no-one will be the wiser.......and they look cool that way!!!!

Thanks for the info guys. Steve, I've heard about your turbo powered machine! Wow, it looks great! Yeah I've fixed up an old Case 446. It's still original paint, etc. but I like it! Now I'm debating whether to allow myself to get into Cubs or not...

John H. If you were closer than I'd be interested in that 782. Need to figure out how to travel the 303 miles one way and make the trip "Important" to Angel. Would you please post some pictures of both tractors? TIA. (I'd drop the 782 off at my oldest son's place and have him restore it.)

Just remembered.... my youngest son lives in Reeds Grove, Iowa which cuts the trip in half.

Question on the three turn box ; is the worm different along with the box.I have a box here that is cracked and I was hoping to use the three turn worm in another box ???Thanks Don T

I for one would be willing to make a donate to this site that any picture would be accepted sized to post with no loss of the aspect ratio. Ok what would it cost Charlie and how much frustration is spend on this in this confuser age , relay it is time for this to be gone.

Charlie, I'd be willing to bet that if the photo size limit was removed, people would end up posting photos that are 4000 plus pixels wide...

The 100 kb thing can be a PITA but after 7 years and 3700+ post i have it figured out. My old camera had a setting that shrunk them for me. Now I do it in the edit portion of windows.

Now the weather is warmed up and my snow cub 169 sits peacefully.

Hmmm, should I post a sample 4500 pixel wide, High Definition photo then delete it after a day or so, just so everyone can experience it.
