DON T. - Are you saying you got almost 29 MPG with your Dodge? 173 divided by 6 = 28.8333333

I never figure MPG on less than a full tank, which was always 600-800 miles, which didn't take long cummuting 120 miles round trip every day.

Here's yet another "what followed me home" cub. My nephew found this one in a not so common place on cl. It was about 2 hours away and it took me all day. My truck overheated near Raleigh so my nephew sent his truck on his rollback. We exchanged them and I was off again. On the way back I had a blow out on the trailer with no spare. I found a Mexican used tire place about a mile down the road and for $40 I was on my way once more.

This 124 is tight. There's no smoke at all and it looks like it was never run hard or long. It came with a 42" deck that is in very good shape less the paint. The shredder has skin cancer but the flails have never been turned. It was engaged when the seller cranked the tractor and it just started purring (loud purr). I got it all for a very low price too...$300. I looked in the tank and saw only silver. After a carb kit, fluid change/add, and a little grease it should be ready to go. I'm just going to "adjust" the shredder and use it this fall as is. The seat looks terrible but sits real nice. I may have it covered and leave it.

I've got to quit buying these things and fix what needs fixing. I think I could be done in 2 to 4 years.

Yep that is what i`am getting now.,every improvement I have made to the truck has paid off so far,I`am told I can get 30 mpg if I wasn`t to heavy on the skinny petal lol.I have a few other mods to do next spring ,I got 19.8 last fall no mater how I drove it .I have a few thing planned for my Cubs and have to get at them soon. winter and snow is next and I have the 450 blower that needs new seals and a paint job. my plan is to use up the 149 white that I have and see how that looks.Got to get the pipe bender going and finish the hard lines for the 129 loader. I have so much to do and so little time. Now if you put a paper filter cold air kit on that Ford you have you could see another 4 mpg, but then you don`t use it much ?

wow nice find, you guys got all the luck finding those treasures.

I would have to say.............Yes!! Eventually you won't be able to tighten the nut on the bowl.

I was hopeing I could still use it it is a realy nice carb except for the crack but I guess I will have to rebuild my other one

DONALD - That's great MPG for a big heavy 4X4 truck. When you stop & think about it, today's 18-wheelers get 7-8 MPG and they weigh 60,000-80,000 pounds gross. A pickup & RV trailer that weighs 16,000# SHOULD get 20 MPG. Too bad they can't do that from the factory!

I barely SPEND $100/year on fuel for my truck, be hard to improve MPG's enough to save the cost of improvements on fuel savings alone.

CHARLIE - I bet Kentucky KEN can weld that pulley.

WAYNE - Nice CC & shredder. Glad the seat's comfy because it sure looks....well... Worn & Uncomfortable. Some road trips are way too eventful. At least everything finallygot home safe & sound.

Truer words were never spoken!! Since you got a free tractor with the shredder you might want to contact CC Specialties and get one of these for it:

They come with a free garbage bag, useful for disposing of shreddings, old John Deere parts, etc. New Seat will go here:

As we all know the big three have been ripping us off for years on what there products could do and give for service.I know why my Ram did not have the mods I did from the factory. the trans would be toast with most people running it.If you let it lock the TC under 45 mph with to much skinny petal the TC will slip easy.So Chrysler stuck in the best trans they had and detuned the 5.9 to 160 hp.Bummer for mileage and towing.I know a trans is in the near future for me as the hp rises and those arn`t cheap.
