I didnt reinstall my anti rattle springs either, my PTO is quiet, the noisiest part on that tractor is the plastic grill rattling at 3/4 throttle. Its truly obnoxious. Ive also noticed no difference in vibration since I left my balance gears out this rebuild, still runs strong and still has that signature kohler bark despite its large muffler.
Dennis, thought about going allis orange on it as well, but I do like my caterpillar yellow. I am still trying to think of a way to make a vertical air intake for it as well but it would run beside the hood currently not through it like I prefer. And you are correct, it is VERY crowded on that side of the engine.

Kraig, thanks so much. That's great info! I will see if that's the width then try to buy the belt from the local CC dealer. I called them yesterday and they have the 489397 in stock. Then I will find out how well my PTO works I suppose (or doesn't work.) Do you recomment I buy a new button while I'm at it?

Ken - (You not me) I see you made it without a road map LOL

Really of all the forums that I've been on / read I like this format the best.

Yes I'd get new "buttons" if yours is worn at least half way down. Cheaper to do it while you're into it and then you know that part is good for several years *if adjusted properly*.

There's all kinds of info around this joint. Check out the FAQ above and there's another FAQ link from that one.
Back on the front page , at the bottom there's links for manuals , wiring and who but Charlie knows what else may show up.

just picked up an almost complete trip plow for an original
the only thing missing is the lifting rod

anyone have the measurements for one?

this would hook (i assume) off of the lift point for the mower deck ?

pictures would also help of how this is made

thanks

Hi guys, first time poster here. My 127 all of a sudden wouldn't engage or disengage the pto right. Took it to a cub dealer who said that the pto bearings were bad. They would replace the whole unit at a cost of about $750. HOLY COW!!!

Does this sound right to you all? Are there any other options with the bearings? Does this need to be junked and parted out. The whole thing isn't worth that money. Thanks for your advise. You all are the experts!

Brian, Welcome

Scroll down this page, you got lucky, theres several posts about just this subject. No, you don't probably need 700 dollars worth of work done. Can you post some pictures or give some more information. Somebody can help. Can you scan the estimate, that might be entertaining.

Hey Brother(from another Mother) Brian, I'll fix ya' up for a whole lot less. Tell the dealer to cram it!

what is this button used for?

I received this one, I am assuming the first one is for a pto with a brake installed?

I received the anti rattle springs as well, they flew off first time it started. I guess I didn't have those installed right either lol.

Brian- a pto rebuild kit is only $50 not hard to do, just making sure its adjusted properly is the key

I'm still learning that one.

Patrick, top button is for the brake style PTO as would be found on the later 86, 1x8/9 series (which includes the following models: 86, 108, 109, 128, 129, 149 and the 169) Cub Cadets. I never use the anti-rattle springs because even if they are installed correctly, they eventually fly out.

$750.00 to replace a pto? The manager of that dealership has to have a rap sheet. I'd like to confront him to explain that amount. The sad news is there are people that actually pay ridiculous prices to those thieves.

Why not make it an even $1000?

chris rolke

I have a lift rod here for the original and will post a picture here later of the length .

WOW a $750.00 pto ,When a person does not know what is involved in rebuilding a pto ,they can get suckered into paying way to much.I`am trying to get a rebuilt torque converter for my diesel truck and i`am having the same problem with prices from $400.00 to $1400.00 as quotes for the rebuild, and they all want a core returns so they can repair mine and sell it to the next guy needing one. The parts to rebuild a tc come to just under $200.00 . so I don`t see why the big prices.

Ok, an update on the $750 pto replacement. I just picked up the 127 and have in front of me their estimate. Here goes...1 PTO kit for $303. 1 button for $5.60. 1 bearing assembly for $31.20 and $10 freight. That comes to about $350. The remaining $400 is labor!! The PTO assembly is off. Now what? Thanks for the advice.

i just picked up a Danco loader and i was wondering what model cub cadet it was for the model number on it says BH700 but i thot they were RD300 or RD1000?

Brian,As the new owner of your 127,you are at a place that all of us were at one time, buying a piece of equipment like this, and getting it home only to find as old as it is that it needs some TLC in some areas, We all have had the frustration of " how am I going to repair this" But as Don pointed out that the FAQ"s (which I my self forget about from time to time)are very helpful, along with asking all of us here on the forum questions you might have, pretty satisfying when you get done repairing it your self, takes time and tools,(sometimes a lot of penitrating oil) Don't give in to dealers, half the time they don;t know what they are doing on an older piece of equipment such as this,And now as Mike Rowe says " Get ready to get dirty"!!!!

Guys sometimes I should just say nothing lol. I did take a few pictures of the Original lift rod. but I think everybody would be better off if someone reproduced them and sold hem at there cost and send to youall who need and want them.
Chris,Kraig,Mike here are some pictures of the Original lift rod that attachés to the lift rod and pokes out the front of the Original to lift your snow blade.I think I had better swallow the shipping fee $$ and send this to Kraig (Charlie promised to give him one also) and then he can use mine as a pattern. do you promise Kraig ? OK here is what I have.
