Okay. The 149 is in the garage after being towed home. No spark - I do not have 12 V at the + of the coil. Bad ignition switch? Can I bypass the ignition switch be supplying 12 V directly to the + side of the coil?

Jim, my guess is a bad/broken wire connection start with a multi meter and see where it goes

Jason,

Looking good! Is that the wheels you modified a few weeks ago?

Nice welder you have there!

Jim K,

Jeff is right. That's the quickest and cheapest way to troubleshoot your problem.

Thanks a million to Roland B. for this big help too!

Jim K if it cranks you can put a jumper wire from battery pos to coil pos and it should start.

Marty -

YEP, same set of rims. I ran out of argon few weeks ago halfway through completing first rim. Finished up the rims yesterday, thought I would post update of how they turned out!

One Thing I didn't account for is the difference in "offset",,,,,
The 7" rims I modified to 9" wide have a much less offset than the 8.5" wide rims on the 149 now,,,,

307853.jpg

307854.jpg

307855.jpg

The rims I just modified have a 2" offset, and the 8.5" rims on 149 now have a 3" offset. Since I'm planning on putting the 23x10.5 Tru-Powers on the modified rims that will leave "EVEN" less clearance between the new ag's and the deck wheel bracket!!!

That's ok though, I don't want to run over my deck so if I have to I'll put the turfs on the modified rims and put the ag's on the stock 149 rims!

Or Modify deck wheel brackets, might be easier than all that tire flippin, LoL geez altering factory equipment can snowball on ya in a hurry, if ur not careful, LoL

When your tires are to close, you have to move your deck wheels inside them under the tractor.

This page HERE in the archives shows a good comparison of the 23x10.5 vs 26x12

All you gotta do is raise the fenders a little for 26's.

Decisions, decisions!!!

Hope to have some 23-10.50x12s for my 100 soon. Those pics are making me anxious.
And I haven't even started on the 100 yet!

Jim K.... if you've got 12 volts at the coil, even when cranking, check the points .. The points ground the.coil when they close and you get the spark when the points open again.. Also possible to be the condensor..

Marty -

I've pretty much 100% decided on the 23x10.5's
Work Duty plays about 0.5% in my decision making. Other than the few steep spots I get wheel spin during mowing w/ turfs, I can't see myself doing any "Gardening" at least until I retire from work. LoL
I do use the oLe Jackson cart from time to time but other than that it's just a pure aesthetics thing.

David S -

Plow day sounds like a Really GOOD Time, something I've been missing out on for the entire 47yrs I been suckin air. I'm more of a ummm well city boy. Never broke ground w/ plow, yet!

Anyway the way your describing my best case scenario at plow day leaves me w/ the impression that either me, the 149, or both need a nice easy go at it? LoL

Hey how are the hydro's at plowing duty? If anything at all is lacking would it be the Engine/HP or the capability of the hydro pump to transfer the power against resistance?

Thanks,

Most of them are hydros.

Jason W. Even though the 15U series has been discontinued different configurations of the 15 Series still are in production. And they used to be put on a lot of the small skid loaders for awhile. Steve B. is right about easily handling his two bottom plow.

I'll have to ask about when it is being held but around Burlington, Iowa is a big annual Fall Plow Weekend even with everything from horse drawn to garden tractors and the older big tractors. Easy plowing area.
