I am new to Cub Cadets. I just purchased a 782. While trying it out, I found that about two minutes into mowing the engine starts to bog down and pulling hard. When I turn off the mower it regains its rpms. When I turn the mower back on, it runs fine for a minute or two and then begins bogging down again. I checked the mower deck and the blades spin freely and even tried a different deck to make sure it wasn't deck related. I am suspecting a bad clutch. Does anybody have any ideas.
Thanks.

Rohn Peterson (Rdpeterson) if that has a electric pto then that could be shorting. just my .02

Thanks Donald for the reply. If it is a short, any ideas on how I would go about tracking it down? Or any idea on a site that would tell me more about it?

This is a friend's RED collection. 482, 582, 582 Special, 682, 782, 982 and a 184 IH. Impressive. I think he has red fever! Enjoy.

So, what exactly makes a cub a "Plow Special" or "Special"?
I know that Art has an Original "Plow special", and I have heard of 582 specials. ???

Greg E., Your friend has a nice red collection there!

Todd, Art's Original "Plow Special" is a one off that Art created. It has a 10hp Kohler instead of the stock 7hp it also has a couple other special features and Art had custom decals made up. It is the 1st Cub Cadet that I know of to be called a "Plow Special" though there have been a couple other custom built Cub Cadets made since that people have called "Plow Special". The 582 Special is factory named model, it's actually not so special, it has the cheaper Peerless transaxle instead of the heavy duty rear, but it does have a built in creeper gear.

well as we all know i dont care much for chevys but it looks like charlie found one that at least looks good, that oughta lighten the mood when it breaks

Michael. A 100 is a narrow frame so you'll need a different hitch. Only the botton piece will fit.

Charlie P. Congratulations on your new Cub hauler.

May Angel and I have have that ol' throwaway Dodge that you got last year?

We'll gladly take it off your hands seeing that it is too small to haul your Cubs around. We'll even give that old Dodge a good loving home.

Does anyone know where I can find a hydraulic pump for a Johnson front end loader that is mounted to my 149 Cub Cadet? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dave-
I had a Johnson loader that was missing it's pump also. I found a smaller (5-6 G.P.M.) Barnes brand pump at my local Northern Tool and made the pump brackets to make it work.

Greg Edwards-
That's a pretty neat collection of RED your friend has!

Charlie, you need a bigger yard!

Made some progress lately. Friday the humidity was low and I was able to get the Original transmission painted. Soon the frame and transmission will be bolted together so I figured I better get my best set of 6-12 rims dug out. They were mounted onto my parts 149 chassis so I had to dig that out of the lean-to and swap them out for a beat up set of 6-12 rims/tires. This set even has good rubber, no cracks. I don't think I'm going to paint these rims, they'll be hidden behind a set of weights anyway. Eventually I'll have to get my third set of 6-12 rims cleaned up and buy a set of Ag tires for them.

Over the weekend I was at my parent's farm and I spotted a Cub Cadet belt hanging on the wall in the attached garage. It was hiding behind a folding lawn chair. Turned out to be a never used S/G belt.

Don T., I'll try to get to the Original mower deck belt guards this week.

Kraig:
After having a S/G belt go south on a weekend about 12 years ago (no ride time that weekend), I bought a replacement and a spare. The replacement still looks like new, the spare is tucked up on top of a cabinet in the garage and will probably meet the same fate as the one you just found (my son or one of my daughters husbands will find it maybe...).

Paint looks good! ( I'm still repainting parts on a scooter)
