Jeff - There's a hole in the backside of the blower housing , the frame just about hides it.

Morning Ken. Hard to find any small bales here. Had to buy some straw and it came with wire ties. Wander if anyone still makes a wire tie bailer?

you mean an actual baler? I think theyve all gone to twine ir the plastic twine for big square bales and round bales.

I wonder if that guy put the carrige on that way on purpose to fool people

Ken not to sound dumb but what type of mark should i look for and what position should the points be in?

Jeff B,

You might try a new spark plug. Someone mentioned a while back that sometimes if an engine backfires, it can affect the plug. The timing light hole should be on the right side of the blower housing and is partially hidden by the frame side rail. The timing mark is sometimes hard to see but if you take some chalk, you can highlight it to make it more visible.

I tried to find a pic of the timing hole but failed (I hold my head in shame!). This doesn't even show the timing hole ... go figure !

Jeff - I've yet to see a Kohler do it but I can tell ya many times over that if a Briggs backfires it'll shear the flywheel/crank key just about everytime.

Ken that is a good start i will look for the timing marks.... so lift your head up high as i appeacate the help this is the last tractor to get running for now...

Don thanks for the photo but thats from the 1x8,9 series i am working on a QL that I want to sell...

I dont think anything got sheared off as everything turns over good and has good compression

Jeff - Same basic engine just less sheet metal

Donald - I was to lazy to go out to the shop and take a pic.

Don, not sure that is an actual timing hole, looks to be too far to the rear and too small. Where it's located, all you would see is fins.

Timing hole locations:

Kraig - You're right about the hole, I wasn't looking real close (with my head hanging in shame) but like I said, "There's a hole in the backside of the blower housing."

Donald - That's the front side.

EDIT: Kraig that looks like a plug that has to be knocked out for the hole in the bottom pic.

KENtucky, could be a knock out, sure looks like it in the photo.

Guys I think that was a po hole he drilled. There is anotheer hole on the other side opposite the points. kind of stupid over there I think. here is what the 129 loader has .

Donald - That's it , better hope you don't need to use it !

Kraig - Sending you 6meg pdf IF it ever gets uploaded !!

The hole to check the timmimg is in a poor spot I think. With the loader installed there is no way I can get close to see what the timming is like on my 129 loader.Good thing it works perfect. I think if I do have a problem I`ll pull the engine.
