Rory, the link to the 1A Tiller manual is to a PDF file. You will need a PDF reader, the PDF reader is available as a free download, just google "PDF reader". You can save the file by right clickign on the link and selecting "Save Link As...". That white part is needed but you will also need the rear 3 point lift assembly.

Steve, is the outer tube of the steering column staying in place?

Steve click HERE and scroll down you'll see where I reposted Steve Blunier's tricks to improve the lift height of a mower deck on a 782.

Ken
1. you got called to go eat
2. Did you get your basket full
here means a full gut or basket if you go for third fill. And when explaining this some times verbaly I would say standunder. This would tell me if he or she was paying attention.Because then if they did not question me , they were not paying attention. because standunder is just spelled backasswords understand

Tristan Stewart
notice the hole where the plate fastens is not straight up and down.bolt it up and you will gain lift

Tristan, you may have to rotate that block 180 degrees, it looks like you have the "stud" that goes into the lift bar on the lower side it should be on the high side. This will make the lift bar set higher. Make sense?

Also, is the bend in the lift bar towards the front or towards the rear, it should be towards the front.

Yes the outer black tube on the dash is not moving and the steering wheel is not loose. It is as if the steering shaft is unscrewing from below.

Steve, sounds like perhaps the upper bearing cup is worn out. Does it only come up when you turn one direction?

Kraig, I think you got it there... the whole assembly is in bassackwards. I didnt know there was actually a manual for the lift! The grease fitting is at the rear of the tractor... funny thing is when I bought the lift it came assembled that way and I never thought anything of it. It bolted right into the 129 without any problems... Well looks like I got to do some quick disassembly and I'll be good to go.

Donald Tanner - I bought both of my for about $300 each and could have bought another 1000 for the same and a 1250 for the same at the time. and almost bought a 128 for $50 with a blade, only issue was minor engine issues, except the guy had so many craigslist responses he decided to raise the price. A restored one might go for around 800... typical going price for most I'd say is $400-500 but you know how these things vary.
