I was able to get it complety disassembled except for wiring which is all contained in one area. Man rusty parts from sitting outside make it tough. PB blaster, heat, every puller I own and even a tie rod fork....

Looks like a great source John. He has two different diameters of blade motors and knows which are early, and which are later. You never know. He may be able to help you find an IH unit.

Harold at Clean Power supply had a used mower deck motor! It's on its way. The other one is on process of rebuilding. What a chore to get the drive end bearing out without ruining the frame or armature. Never seen a bearing break like this but it's off and I have bearings on order. This project is as rusty as anything I ever attempted. Frame is getting sandblasted and epoxy primed.

My favorite tool for that job is an angle grinder, another option is a die grinder with carbide burrs. Eye and skin protection critical with carbide burrs, as they make wonderful razor-sharp micro splinters. Very hard to see, but can you ever feel them!

I had the frame and several rusty parts sandblasted and epoxy primer powder coated. One last fairly warm day before the winter blast comes this week and I took advantage and sprayed iron guard. Worked fine with my inexpensive hvlp spray gun.

Yes I am. Since the 95 is all white, it's more cost effective and lays down better. Some of the iron guard spray cans get wonky. Spray cans were just convenient in my little shop. Spray a few parts when they were ready. This restoration I moved everything uphill into the detached garage/shop where the big air compressor is and painted it all at once.

I think the 95 will be resurrected from the dead. Thanks to Harold from clean power, I have the needed mower deck motor and a nice original harness with solenoids and circuit breakers. All 3 motors are reconditioned and painted. Reassembly is next. That's the fun part! I had an NOS Foote transmission and a reconditioned differential in my stash. Going to get real cold tomorrow-not calling for much snow 2-4 inches. Probably won't get back to it until after family Christmas. Merry Christmas to my IH friends.

Got a little bit done the last couple days. I had to install the internal parts of my NOS transmission in the original case. The case was configured with different mounting hole locations for a different application then an IH cadet. What a pain!

A little more progress on the 95 Electric. Traction motor installed, brake and idler pulley engagement pedal and linkage installed. This little RER had evidently been lifted and dropped more than once. I knew the steering wheel was bent, but didn't count on steering shaft, steering linkage, pedals and control linkage being bent. Good thing I had some parts machines - mainly 60 parts that interchange AND a oxy acetylene torch! Next step is to clean and paint the wheels taken from a 60, install them - then I will have a roller! Picture included of the cleaned up wiring harness and battery charger that I purchased.

Wheels and battery tray painted and installed. Electrical components and wiring repaired and installed along with the battery charger. About time for testing!

I was able to run the traction motor today! Lots of tweaking to do, but I think this discarded heap is going to be resurrected! Mower deck is also completed.

Yes, I need to get a belt for the transmission and fix the neutral switch. I also need to fabricate battery hold down brackets that are long gone. I need to check to see if the blade motor circuits are functioning. Then it’s on to body work, seat etc.

Ha ha! I use a custom hold down like that on my 782 and 85 special. With 3 batteries needing separation, I will fabricate something similar to the original. The IH parts manual has a decent picture.

Back together sans body. Mower deck motors didn't turn on. Testing indicates the switch, which doesn't even fully turn after decades in the rain and snow. Indak sourced an OEM switch from a Honda twin with the same specs as the original IH engineering specs. I have one ordered, fingers crossed

Opposed to the messy shops usually seen on these pages, when you (or I) use a tool we put it back where we found it. That way when we need it again there isn't any "now where the eff did I leave that?"
