Harry-
You might want to hold off on baking the birthday cakes until Mid-June if you want to hit the main chunk of them.

Mike M-
You'll notice I don't have the info on that one you posted. Send me an email...

Art - I won't be baking any but I do prefer German Chocolate frosting on mine - and who ever does it, make sure it's big enough for all 40 candles.

Jim QQ - can't believe you let it go. This is the kinda of stuff you have to git while the gittin's good! Chances of one coming around again are really quite slim. Just ask some of the others how many chances they've had to git one.

(Michael M - pssst - there is one more piece on that frame that you better use).

Well, I'm hopeful all the 169ers on Art's Chart are figuring out their actual birthday. I'm waiting for the parties parties parties

Harry B,

I let me help you!
Much better than the attack of the scratchy screwdriver.
Reproduction sticker LEFT, Original RIGHT
286130.jpg

Rick - where did you get the one on the left? It looks great (but is missing the little lettering "Serial No.").
HEY - it's got a different serial number from the one on the right!!!!

Harry,
Just the BLACK portion is a sticker. The aluminum is original.
Yes, both are 169 tags of different numbers, the one on the right is mine.
I had them made locally, it was near impossible to incorperate the small "serial no." so I omitted them. As good as I could get for the money.

I'd go with the OEM style metal plate than a sticker reproduction. Don't know why other than it just doesn't seem quite right. I must be getting old or something.

Marlin,
"I'd go with the OEM style metal plate than a sticker reproduction"

And where does someone find that? I dug all over the web and did not find a soul offering that type of service.
You understand the aluminum plate with embossed letter is original right?
I'd love to have a NOS tag or screen printed perfect restored tag also if I could.
The tag on the left was HEAVILY sandblasted and painted over, I think the sticker is definite improvement.
If the decal starts looking rough after 5 years, Apply another decal. They were very inexpensive to have made.
It's just a shame to put all the time and attention to restore a tractor not to put some effort into the all powerfull 48U tag.

Actually I had 3 guys that do tags for big tractors quote prices and if I bought 1000 at a time, my cost was to be 32.40 each.
PLUS an additional $7.00 each for different numbers.
I didn't think that having a 1000 of the same serial number tag would go over to well!
So that was forgotten about real quick, LOL

Yowsie,
That's more than some tractors I've bought!
That would tough to move 1000 serial tags of the same number...lol.

Look what jumped on my trailer, another 169 manual lift also, a lot better than the first one,

Mike, nice, where did you find it hiding?? now do not forget to send Art tha 169 data thanks

Mike - I think your new to you 169 was built the same day as mine and my son's. Great find. (And just because Jeff asks doesn't mean you have to disclose your sources

)

I was just messin around about where you found it,,
But you do need to email Art.

Jeff - now I know you were just messin' around. I did think Mike would give us some kind of hit of the location (like maybe it his next door neighbor, or couple doors down or something like that).

Mike - can ya fill us in? And I noticed that original steel pan seat might be gettin' rough on the tookus.

Northern IL,Crystal Lake,IL.I need to find a replacement cover for the wf shorter back seats I have two arm rest seats I want to redo.

Mike - I don't often say this but with 16 horses under the hood you have to keep one hand on the steering wheel and one on the speed control lever - so the arm rests end up not being used.

(let us know if you do find someone that recovers the steel pans)

my old stomping grounds, Mike thanks for saving it, we can rest assured its in good hands now..
