4 hole plate for plow

How is my moldboard plow that has 4 hole flat plate suppose to attach? instead of the usual 3 hole hitch.

I'd posted about this awhile back and folks tuned me into the Cat0-to-sleeve hitch adapter but that's not making sense to me. I've been scratching my head on and off about this one. I don't need the flat plate in that adapter kit/assembly -- the plow itself has the 4 holed flat plate. 3 pt / sleeve hitch / drop pin / hitch reciever ?

These holes don't line up, obviously. See picture.

Is the Cat0 adapter meant to be a kit to fab/weld onto the sleeve hitch?! Or do I put the 2nd plate in the adapter kit on the back side of the sleeve and basically "clamp" the plow on with the bolts. Or do I have to add an actualy 3 point hitch to my Cub and an adapter meant for 3pts? ... or will it all make sense and line-up after I order the kit/assembly?

P.S. Here are the 3 kits/assemblies that I've found, and I think 2 are sold on CCSpecialty too. Anyways, none make sense for this plow.

You need the Cat 0 style frame to mount that plow.
It's whole different ballgame than the IH 3 point setup that you have.

Is your plow a 12" or a 10"?

Ah, well it's the only attachment that would need that with my Cub.

It's a 10" plow.

I'm near Green Bay.

I also have a Ford 4000 with a few 3 point attachments (via linkages) but not the standalone triangular 3 point hitch itself. It sounds like that is what this plow needs.

The Cat '0" setups are usually found on the "Super" Cubs
Ever been to Portage, WI Garden Tractor Daze?
If not, you should mark it on your calender,
Thursday-Sat after the 4th.
I usually vend there every year.

P.S. This plow finally makes sense. I found a pic of it setup for 3 point. Took forever to find how it attaches to a 3 point. I'm a visual guy so this wasn't clicking.

Plow frame U-bolts on to the bar of that hitch and the tractor's 3 point linkages are offset. I've never seen anything like this setup. This guy's pics show it adapted to Cat 1 as well:

You could always cut the welds and remove the flat plate on the end and bolt one of these from Aaron on there

It would basically look like the below pic but with the clevis instead of the four hole plate like you have now.

I'd probably make a clevis that bolts onto the existing four bolts and gives it the clevis like pictured above but I'm not sure what tools you have for fabbing parts.

I do not think the beam halves (part #' 10) ahead of the coulter are long enough to do that.
Plus the ends need to be at 90*

That won't work well if at all. The adjustment on the Cat-0 plow is on the hitch itself. The sleeve hitch plow has adjustments on the plow itself. Cobbling a sleeve hitch mount on a Cat-0 plow will result in a plow with no ability to be adjusted. OP just needs to get the correct plow for his hitch type.

You can turn a standard 10" into a Cat '0' that way but not visa versa.

Yea I need a different plow. I added the sleeve hitch, spring assist, etc. and all that is working on the Cub, so I don't want to muck with changing the setup now.

Thanks for helping sorting this out. Anyone want a plow Cat0? At least it's rare, LOL

You go this route as long as you get the angle right.

I agree with Charlie. You could either weld or bolt the adapter to the 4 bolt plate on the plow and you are good to go. Seems like a good common sense way to solve the problem. It's not rocket science. If you have a sleeve hitch coupler on a piece of equipment that can't be used for one reason or another the coupler could be cut off and reapplied to the plow also.

No, no, no... There will be no way to adjust it. If you get lucky and manage to get it "right", then change tires, soil, the tractor, or literally anything and it will work poorly if at all. It needs to be adjustable, hence why they were made to be adjustable. While it is not rocket science, it still needs to be set up right or it will not work well at all.

Before you weld anything, be advised there are 6 different adjustments on that part that is bolted to the end of the beams on a standard non cat '0' setup.
Three are used one way and the other three are used by flipping the yoke in the beam halves.
These spacings are determined by the size of tires on your machine and the spacing between them when mounted to assure proper tracking in the furrow when plowing.

This info is all in the BRinly plow setup manual.

I still think you will need to lengthen the beam halves (about 6 or 7 inches) to accommodate the yoke and still have room for the coulter mount. (see pic's) Notice the placement of two holes where the coulter 'U' bolt is located. Even then you will still not have any adjustment on the angle of the plow.

Sir, I would not hack on that fine Cat '0' plow. IMHO, it is worth much more than a standard sleeve hitch plow in most areas. You will clear enough on that sale than you need to purchase the correct sleeve hitch unit which is what you need for your Cub the way it is now. I'd bet there is someone out there that would trade you a S/H unit for that Cat'0' unit plus boot!!

There is nothing worse than the embarrassment of a plow day when you are having boat loads of set up issues and there are dozens of guys piling up behind you waiting. Believe me, I have seen it at about every plow day I have participated in. You would not believe some of the cobbled up so called plows that folks bring to them and have nothing but issues, wasted time and end up screw the furrow up for every one behind them making the finished field look like a bunch of drunks were out there.

IMHO, you will have your fill of that within the first 2 minutes if you hack that unit you now have and try to use it. There is a reason for all them holes in the yoke and the extra length in the correct plow beam halves.

Justin, Bring that unit down to Portage in July and I'll trade you even up for a restored 10" sleeve hitch unit.
