Hello I am new to the forum. I have a 1862 with power steering. Recently When using power steering My tractor seems to loose speed. In the manual it says power steering is priority over other functions. So is this normal has it been doing this all along and I am now just catching it. What are these capable of pulling and what are their weakness.

Bob - Welcome to the forum.

There could be several things causing your problem.
1)Wrong fluid
2)Low fluid
3)Stopped up filter
4)Sludge in the fluid hindering pickup flow
5)Working under a load on the trans while steering at low engine rpm

I am using hytrans fluid from farm and fleet I will change filter and see what happens Fluid level is ok thanks for the advice

Bob - There can be a handful of "goop" in the rear from moisture condensation that'll require removing the rear cover to drain and wipe it out. If/when you do it be ready for about 7 quarts of gushing fluid. All of these should be cleaned out when they get age on them.

That can block the fluid from the pickup tube but you should notice it just driving it, up hill or pulling when you have to give it more speed (not throttle) to keep it going.
