Ordered and rec'd a new ignition switch.

The broken black plug on the 1641 Cubbie has positions for five connections, will fit the plug.

There is a 6th male connection, close to the edge. Is this for a green or ground wire?

Arthur: Yes, I believe it is. You can Ohm out the switch to verify. I was told by a dealer that the grounding tab was for installation in tractors with plastic dashes; it is there to protect you, the operator by grounding the case of the switch. If you're installing it in a metal dash, you don't have to worry about connecting it; that is what the star lockwasher is for, it makes the connection from switch case to frame ground.

Jeremiah,
you are 100% correct, what with all the plastic dashes and powder coated metal it was required to have. You will not cause any problems if you do want to add a ground lead to it.
