My 12hp Kohler went down & a friend offered a 16hp briggs opposed twin from a 582. He thought it would be a drop in replacement but there is a wireing differerence. I have no experience with an opposed twin engine. I need to know if it is a solid state ignition & where to connect the power from the ignition switch. The online diagrams were not much help on the engine side.

The briggs is a magneto. I can get you a picture of the wiring, as I've got one of these at the moment. If the 1210 is an earlier one with a K301 and points/coil ignition, you'll need to do some rewiring. If it is a later one with an M12 and magneto ignition, you won't have to change anything.

You need the engine mounting plate too...the 582 engine mounts differently than the 1210 engine.
