    Lamp replacement (Cub 3184)

I've been running with the 50w halogens for several weeks now - no problems. The voltmeter does show about 1 volt less while the tractor is running with the lights on, but it's still charging the system enough.

    Series 3000 attachments

Lonny - thanks for the exploded view, details, and again for sending the Email info. I don't think the dealer I'd be going to has done one of these before. Cheers!

    Series 3000 attachments

Thanks, Kraig! Maybe they will be able to confirm whether an additional control lever will be needed beside the one that does the deck now. Cheers!

    Series 3000 attachments

Thanks for the input Kraig & Glenn. I know people who are handy with a welder, but it's not me. I'm trying to contact Lonny again. Actually in the last week I've looked at a bunch of the sponsors sites... just didn't know what I needed to look for then....

    Series 3000 attachments

Yes, I see the front blade isn't going to be possible. I have the sleeve hitch adapter which would not be needed any more either. Would the single hydro control handle which now raises and lowers the deck also control the CAT 0 hitch position... or would I need another control handle added...

    Series 3000 attachments

Great pics! Very cool to know it's doable. Are the A-frame adapters hard to find? I guess the front mount implements from my 149 are another story altogether - not possible, I'm guessing. Thanks!!

    Series 3000 attachments

I'll try another question since the brighter lamps for a 3184 didn't get a reply. Can the rear attachments used with a 3 point hitch on a 149 also be used on a 3184 with the 3 point that works on a 3184? In other words, will the 3 point that goes with a 3184 allow me to use the hitch and...

    Lamp replacement (Cub 3184)

Hi all, Just got a 3184 (2000) and used it last night in the dark... lights might be okay to see by if I were still 25 years old, but that was a ways back. So, I've located a halogen replacement for the standard 1156 automotive lamp. NAPA carries a 12v. #795 that fits the same socket...

Is there someone on this list that lives just north of Dubuque IA? Went by a yard yesterday with 2 JD and 3 Cub tractors all lined up nice and pretty.

Lonny B. Thanks for your insight and advice, but I'm not sure I stated my situation clearly. I need to make this change - keeping the 149 going is not an option for me. I'm changing to a Series 3000 Cub, even knowing that these newer models don't do what the IH made machines will do. I was...

I'm trying to decide how to transition from a 149 to a Series 3000 garden tractor. The 1971 model still runs and cuts fine, but the carb has been a bit of trouble lately. It will blow smoke from the vent near the carb after running for about 15 minutes. I've had this Cub for about 30 years...

Ron S. Thanks for the ideas about lighting on a 149. I'll go through your list and see what happens.

Hi all, Has anyone dealt with fixing front / rear lights on a 149? Mine used to work but haven't now for some time. The problem of running about 20-30 minutes and then losing power as if out of gas seems to have been fixed. I employed suggestions from this forum and I'm not sure what...

Paul - thanks for the inline filter tip. I don't know if this is a real problem yet. The auto parts guy knew what I was using it for... I don't know if B&S is sold in Topeka but I will look around. Probably should go to a small engine shop - not the auto parts store. Shane - my local hardware...

Matt, You think I'll actually find the screws once I pull the head? The engine was running for maybe 5 - 10 minutes. I'll have to locate new screws, and I don't believe the local hardware store will have that size... Thanks, Kent

Well, well, well, I guess my little problem with the 149 is solved - maybe. I can't really say because I've created a bigger problem. I added the inline fuel filter, replaced the condenser and added MMO at 2x strength. It seemed to be doing okay, although a couple times the filter wasn't...

Russell, Thanks for the story of your experience. I still need to get going with an gas additive - just didn't seem to be an issue in the past. I'm still trying to figure out a sleeve or bushing to go on the carb choke shaft to snug it up. A Cub parts shop told me about $100 to replace...

Wow - lots of replies and I didn't even post with a pic ;-) Thanks Bobby, Todd, Donald and Kendell again.... When it dies out after mowing great for 30-40 minutes, I can start it again and nurse it back to the barn or up onto the trailer if I want to get it to a shop. It's just running very...

If anyone replied to this, I've missed it and I looked a number of times, so I'll pitch it once more in case people have any more words of wisdom to share :-) UPDATE to all who've made suggestions on my 149 that dies after 30-40 minutes of running great... rather than dive into the valves and...

UPDATE to all who've made suggestions on my 149 that dies after 30-40 minutes of running great... rather than dive into the valves and head gasket arena immediately, I figured I could be more thorough in the fuel field. I've added an inline fuel filter, and checked the tank lid vent hole...
