Well, I'm not going to get into an argument over engine speed. The tractor is 46 yrs old, all original, runs perfect, does not use a drop of oil after my 10 yrs of ownership. Maybe I will get my infrared thermometer and do some experimenting after I get the 149 back together. Get some...

Thanks Charlie for the part. I'll get the front end back under the 149. I got curious and pulled the pan off the engine. I wanted to get first hand knowledge of those infamous "balance gears". I've read of guys that have "broken" them to get them out. I contemplated that, but got scared...

Well I got a care package from Charlie so I got to spent some Cub time getting my 42" deck back to tip top shape. I sandblasted the original mounts, primed and painted them Cub white I had left over from doing the rims for the 127. I stopped and got a handful of SS hardware to remount...

Thanks Matt. Didn't really even think about Greedpay or such to get used parts to start with. If I was younger and thought I would need to fix it again I would put some thought into it. I think for what I need, the old style pieces will suffice. $200 and be done with it. I do need to...

Well, didn't pull the other deck apart as it is on the 127 and in service presently. Once measured and saw both decks were visually the same, I was going to just double order everything and once the 149 deck is complete(and put the front axle back under it) I can then put it back in service and...

Charlie, those bearings are for the later spindles? I tried pressing the bearings out of my old ones and they aren't moving. I could take to them to buddies and use the 100 ton press LOL!! That'll show'm who's boss! Go or BLOW as I usually say. I'm guessing I'll be making a purchase...

I fudged a tape measure across the outer spindles and added a short blade and come up with about 42". So that answers that. Thanks. I brought a spindle bearing to work and found a slug with 1.57 hole to support the outer body and tried putting it in the arbor press. No go. Won't even...

What does the width go by? Deck or cutting width? I'm taking one bearing to work and see what I can do with it tomorrow. I'll report back.

What a coincidence. I just got done mowing with the 127 and the deck is pretty noisy and I want to fix it. The deck on my 149 is just as bad. I get on here and see you are already talking about it. Wunderfool! Okay, one of the decks is tagged U-1111(the other deck the tag is missing but...

Well, I got to start dismantling the 149 to rebuild the front axle. The 127 is now on mainline service(and doing pretty good). I got the motor out last night, just need to knock the pivot pin out of axle. Charlie, I got a new driveshaft from you about a year ago. The drive pin was loose...

So I was mowing with the 127 again. It's running well....then suddenly it stumbles and quits. Won't crank. A minute later it fires up and runs fine. Did this last week too. Few moments later it quits again but won't crank, even after a few minutes. Hmmmm. I start wiggling wires. Nope. I...

You can get them by the piece here, though not self threading style: https://www.fmwfasteners.com/collections/5-16-18-indented-hex-head-machine-screws-zinc-plated/products/5-16-18-x-3-4-indented-hex-head-machine-screw-zinc But with a Dremel you could cut the starts and make them self...

With the constant rain/sun we're having lately the grass is growing like gangbusters. While doing some painting last night on the Mack, I took a break and hopped on the 127. I checked the oil, as I know it smokes, and it needed a couple gulps to get it to the full mark. I put some gas and...

Well, got some cub time tonight. Last weekend I got the deck put on the 127. Could use some new parts, but I greased everything, oiled the tensioner pulleys and sharpened the blades. It's kinda noisy, but I'll get around to new bearings at some point. The deck has been patched up on the...

Thanks guys. Saw the manual lift and wondered if it was maybe a mutt of various parts. I think I have an extra lift cylinder I bought years ago for a blade angle project that never worked out. Not that I need to even think about buying that 169!

On hydrostatic tractors. What denotes if it is electric or hydraulic lift option? Wide frame, narrow? Or whatever you prefer? My 149 is hydraulic lift, my 127 is electric. That 169 I saw on craigslist is manual? Seems strange to me.

Ethan thanks for the heads up. What are the tell tales of a 169. I'm not versed at all.

If I didn't have the 127 I'm tinkering with I would be more apt to go look at it. Another guy has a pile of misc parts for sale too, pretty cheap. If I could move them quickly and made a buck, maybe.
