I haven't heard anyone complain yet about the headlights vibrating on QL tractors. I got tired of my three 1650's doing it so I decided to try and stop it. I tried a couple ways that didn't work so I tried a piece of 1/2"x 1/2" aluminum angle from Lowes. I put the angle on the top inside of the...

Larry K. I made these simple brackets for the 42" deck on my 149. They have been on there for about 30 years and the deck metal hasn't cracked that I know of.

Shawn H. The bolt size you asked about for the new hydraulic control lever is 5/16"dia. I don't remember the length but that is easy to figure out. The bolt doesn't go thru the shaft it is just installed on the new lever and basically just squeezes the lever on the shaft.

M.Reed, Your outfit looks like it worked, thats what counts. So far my new puller is untested and I hope it stays that way for awhile. Those pullers only work on my 147 & 149. The 147 doesn't have a deck on it and the 149 has only had clutch problems once that I can remember, it is still on...

    M. Reed, After you asked about a puller for the basket pulley I decided it was time to make one in case I needed it. I forgot about one that I made many years ago to use with a gear puller. It clamps on to the pulley hub and has a hole drilled from the side to use a setscrew as an anchor to keep...

    M. Reed I wouldn't have come up with that idea myself. A friend let me look at his a couple years ago. When I build one for myself I am going to bore it just larger than the crank with a larger hole for the pulley hub. That way it will not be able to move more than a few thousands sideways.

    M. Reed, I will try to explain how to make a puller like a friend has. He lives in Tn. so I can't get dimensions for you but maybe I can explain how its done. Take a hollow steel tube with an inside diameter large enough to go over the pulley hub with the setscrews removed. Mark and drill the...

Kraig M, Those little Prime Line mufflers can be adapted to a lot of odd applications.

Brian J. I was wondering if your pulleys are in alignment? Does the tiller lean sideways during use because the bottom mount frame holes are elongated or oversize? I have had my # 1 tiller over 30 years and I don't ever remember a problem with the belt flopping over. I run the short belt a...

Richard P. You just hold it on the end of a shaft. If you remember most of the time a shaft has a center hole in the end of it, the rubber tip will usually fit in it. It will check any rotating shaft up to 4000 RPM. It's a little harder if there is no center hole but it can be done with a little...

Richard P. I just looked at that add again and the face of that instrument is in MPH. The tach is the same shape and size only the face is marked for RPM. Sorry for the goof.

Richard P. The hand held tach you are asking about will work from 100 to 4000 RPM CW or CCW. It has a short shaft with a rubber tip coming out of the back of the tach. Just hold the tip against the end of the shaft you are checking and it will register the RPM. There is one for sale on E-...

Jim C. Unless you have some oddball deck on your 169 I don't think the type catcher on the new CC will work. Its been my experience that a one or two blade deck will pick up on its own but three blades will not. I may find out differently from other forum members but I have never been able to...

Jim C. I had a vacuum setup very much like Dennis F. has for several years. Later I adapted a collection system from an OT manufacturer. The first system had the blower mounted on the trailer tongue, the other one was mounted on the tiller mount. I also have a small yard and both of those...

Steve B. I have a set of 26x12x12 Nankang{Taiwan} on my 682. I bought the rims from someone who used to post here,I think his first name was John. The rims were advertised as SGT pulloffs. The bead width is about 10 1/4" but the offset is different than standard CC rims. The inside of the rim is...

Art, I just finished the steering repair you mentioned on my 147. I used a #6 tapered reamer and made my own taper pin to fit. When I got the taper pin the right size I put a 5/16-24 thread on the small end. The thread allows you to pull the pin TIGHT, it would still rock a little even on the...

Bruce N. I have those on one of my 1650's and am not as happy with them as I am with the type that already has the bolt built in. I don't have the number of the better ones handy. The other type I used required washers as spacers to keep them from rubbing the spindles. I am almost positive I got...

Does anyone have a proven method for keeping water out of the brake area of an electric lift actuator? I am not sure if a sealer or a gasket between the motor and the housing it mounts on would be the best.
