    1962 original tires

Yes, good tires sure are expensive. I look at them EVERYTIME I get on and off. After years of old worn out OEM tires I bought $$$$$ tri-rib fronts for my nicest tractor and rotate the used worn out stuff for my other tractors. All tractors see work, no trailer queens. Good tires are a must for...

    oil capacity question

I had a similar experience that involved the dip stick not having the correct length. I used a different part number that had been squeezed together making it a tad longer. I always check the part number on the stick as a 7hp dip stick looks like a 10hp stick and I assume a PO may have switched...

    NF Rear PTO cover plate

Thanks all. The previous owner wanted to install it on their 70 and I’m certain he didn’t know this was wrong. All the parts are together but not useful for my NF’s. The family’s Cub has a PTO as well. I’ll go visit Ray W and see if he’ll trade. In the parts diagram above, are the parts the same...

    NF Rear PTO cover plate

Found this in a garage next to a CC70 and noticed it doesn’t have the oil fill hole. Perhaps this isn’t a 70 cover plate? I was thinking I could put it on my 122 (since it hasn’t been split since the White Album). But I don’t like the looks of the 122’s lever. Waahhhhhh. So I have three choices...

    I got one

Nice, I’m gonna have to expand my Marketplace area to include Bedford County now!

    Best model opinion?

My daily workhouse is a 122. No hydro, no mower, no thrower. Creeper with a ball up front and in back for moving small trailers of firewood. 3 sets of IH wheel weights. Ag tires on back. Doesn’t stall when hauling 1/4 ton of firewood out of the woods like my CC70/100 did, and not as fancy as my...

    122 Trans question

I had the same glob problem and put paper towels in the bottom for a few days to soak up what eventually drained down to the bottom. Used a screwdriver to poke the shop towels in all the deep areas too. Seemed to soak up everything and I didn’t need to flush. Did prop up one side for a day and...

    Tractor won’t shut off

Tom, please let us know how you isolated the problem so I can learn from what you did. Not sure I understand how that worked and it will help me tremendously. I often fix things but don't know what I did! Thanks.

    Front wheels

I just checked on some front wheel bushings I installed not too long ago. I went the cheap route. I was careful to press these in as straight as possible and just noticed this problem in picture. I'm more inclined to think it's the cheap product versus my press fit. I have to order the good ones...

Tractor For Sale Help: How much is my tractor worth?

I wasn't sure I could rebuild an older Kohler but jumped into it anyway. I know exactly what is wrong with the engine now that I know what's inside and what roles each part plays. Should have learned this long ago! I learned most about the governor's plastic gear that sits inside the engine...

    Bought a mill!

I live in the mountains where no one has 3 phase. I understand it needs to come from the transformer on the pole? Is this cost prohibitive? It would be nice to have when I rebuild my shop and upgrade some equipment.

My 122 is my GO TO tractor. If it don't do it, I get my 2500!

    1863 axle splined steering arm

Thanks for your help. I have to be careful since one arm jams very quickly on the splined spindle, maybe the paint getting down past the duct tape. I'm working on two axles, one has a bent drag link, the other a straight one. Which one is used for where? I'm putting one on a 122 and one on a...

    106 vs 127 vs 147 Newbie Questions

David, please tell us your thoughts about IH Cub Cadets versus your John Deere now that you've been working on them. It sounds like you're really enjoying this project and I think you'll need another one soon. As you can see this forum is fantastic as well. Keep up with your posts and of any...

    1863 axle splined steering arm

Took an 1863 axle apart, cleaned it up, and painted it yellow. I don't know the direction to replace the splined steering arm. More questions about replacing the steering column with this in a 122. Sure would appreciate some advice please. Thanks.

    Rolling bearings under NF spindle

Thanks everyone. I guess the spindle will have to stay as is on the 70. I have a WF axle with C-shaped spindles that tolerates PTFE washers on my 122. The super steer upgrade is my current project and these questions all stem from upgrading to an 1863 axle. I got all excited thinking all...

    Rolling bearings under NF spindle

Thanks, I should have asked before I purchased. Well, anyone need a set for another project?

    Rolling bearings under NF spindle

Bought a set from McMaster-Carr for my 70 and then realized it may cause the pin hole to not line up at the top. The bearing is .078 and the two washers are .031 each. Will 0.140" raise the spindle too high that the pin won't fit back in place?

    1863 axle for NF

Hello, I am doing the super steer upgrade with an 1863 axle (part 719-3101) on both a narrow 122 and a wide frame 169. I bought two and took them all apart to clean them up. A couple of questions. 1) One has a straight drag link and the other has a bent drag link (next to each other in photos)...
