Good day all,
I am going to put a 14hp Perkins 2cyl diesel in a 1250 frame. My question is should I mount it solid to frame or should I use rubber motor mounts? Looking for opinions either way. Solid mount will be easier to do, but is that going to create too much stress on the frame and the engine? Rubber mounts a little more difficult, less vibration transfer and stress. Or is it really not going to make much difference? I have never done an engine swap like this so I'm looking for some opinions? Thanks for any advice or opinions.

If you select to go with motor mounts bug you dont have any specific mount in mind. You may want to look at motor mounts for 1980's 200series Volvo automobiles. They have threaded studs facing up and down with rubber in the middle. Very easy to retrofit on anything.

Additional thought: Get the mounts for the Gas engine volvo
The Volvo diesel mounts will be so stiff for that light weight engine, it wont help anymore than bolting direct to frame.

Just curious here,
How much more weight are we talking here over OEM?
I wouldnt know what the weight difference is between your stock gas dnd the 14hp diesel. I was refering to the Volvo gas 4cyl vs diesel. The diesel mounts are much more stout. Truth is i put the diesel mount on passenger side of my gas volvo because, with the manual transmission, the passenger side gas mounts would seperate. The lifting torque of hhe engine would pull the ultrasonic welding apart. You will never get that with a little 14hp
