Morning, I'm going through the wiring on my 1965 122 and correcting/repairing some things. I think the regulator is shot. It's all dirty and corroded inside. It's a Standard Ignition version, but the part number is worn away. Anyone have a link or part number for a quality regulator? Found an ebay one that claims it's made in USA Delco, with a 7-9 amp charge rate. I don't know the required specs on my rig. TIA!

I think I found the one you are talking about. It says "USA MADE QUALITY" not "MADE IN USA". Delco has not made these voltage regulators for decades. All you will find is aftermarket. No one in the US makes these anymore. The original Delco part number is 1118988.

My Standard unit actually says Made In USA. It cleaned up well...I might reuse it. There are some Cub branded ones on various Cub parts sites, but man are they expensive! After fixing my wiring issues, it might charge now. The Standard one has the Gen terminal on the underside, and the original Pink wire for ground was disconnected. It appears the Standard one grounds through the mounting point. I still have more wiring to finish before I can test voltage output and whatnot. Just hope it all works.

Just an idea. If you can't find an OEM voltage regularot, then take your voltage regulator to an auto parts supply and ask to see a voltage regulator for a 69-72 Ford F100. Then compare yours side-by-side. I think it may fit. Good luck.

Not even remotely close to the same thing. I posted the Delco number...there are all kinds of aftermarket units available that match the specs of the original one, one of which Charlie posted above.

Hey Matt - I'm not so sure. Here's the eBay seller description and one of the pics. Sure does say DELCO is the manufacturer and the mounting says Made in USA. Is pretty pricy to:
Part Type
REGULATOR - EXTERNAL
Voltage
12
Dimension
12-Volt
A-Circuit
4-Terminals
Terminals Battery-Generator-Field-Ground
4th Terminal on Back of Base
Two Unit Type
Output Amperage: 7-9
Manufacturer
DELCO
Brief
Used on Cub Cadet Applications
Addl Info: Ground Terminal on Back of Base

Got a link? I went through many pages in a search, found one NOS one (not that one, the pics were different) and all of the rest were varying brands of aftermarket.

I may have book marked this one too....I can't remember. My ignition switch is out right now, I tried to wire in a universal switch from O'reillys and it didn't work. I'll have to put the original one back in for charging system testing purposes.

I'm having similar issue with my 122. It has what I'm guessing is original, 3 contact regulator, with the little external ground wire underneath, attached to the bottom mounting bolt. However, I installed a new aftermarket harness, which has the pink wire. Not showing on any of the 122 wiring diagrams I can find. Sooo just trying to verify if the pink wire, goes to ground/mounting bolt under the reg, and other end to the (-) post on the solenoid?? Or do I even NEED to connect it, if the regulator already has that little ground wire attached?

That's not a ground. VR's are case grounded.

The pink wire (not red or whatever the diagram shows) is the ground if your regulator is not self-grounding. My regulator cleaned up, is self-grounding and is useable, so I did not connect that wire to anything. I multi-metered it and it does indeed go to the main ground bolt on the lower right of the dash frame as someone above said.
