Why didn't the hydro tractors have a high/low range rear. Especially in the supers.
 
Because there is no need for it. Hydrostatic transmission speed is infinitely variable between 0 and the maximum speed.
 
That and it would have cost money to ditch the transmission from the 40's cub. Actually the power plants at that time didn't over power the hydro .
