I'm considering buying one of the complete remanufactured mechanical PTOs. My luck keeps getting worse rebuilding them myself. I've have been through the process many times over the years, with success. Right now, I put a 14hp into a CC129. The k321 that I put in, I don't know model and serial number that it came from but shouldn't make any difference with 1" shaft. The current clutch I'm working with has the double flat center springs. One of the tabs on clutch pulley that alines the center spring is busted off. That should not be enough to make the clutch not work properly. But that part being bad, I think it should be replaced. Which makes me think a fresh start.
Is one style better than the rest ? The double flat center spring style, the single center spring with bent ends or the one that uses the brake shoe.
 
I would stay away from the one with the brake if you currently are not using that model it will take parts you wouldn't have to make it work , either of the others are both good , the A style with the bent spring tabs with the dump;es for the tabs on the hub , or the B style ,remember there is a different set up gauge for each of the 2 styles ! If you're meaning one of the ears on the clutch disc that rides in the basket pulley being broken off I wouldn't think it would make much difference ?

The 2 spring style is best if your going to be throwing snow or tilling.

The brake can't be used unless your tractor already has one. The engaging lever is different for those that have that style PTO.

Ok thanks. I'll stay with the 2 spring style. I do need to replace the clutch pulley. It has one broken spring tab, one set screw hole has thread problems.
I haven't looked, it is possible that I may have a tractor in the yard with the engaging lever with brake. Is there any advantage to that style ?

no to the brake , why complicate something that works, I'm sure the brake came along as some govt reg saying you needed a way to stop rotating implements !
