I have question about voltage regulator. I had read in a previous post, but I can't seem to find it now, about which wire is connected to the terminal on the underside of the replacement regulator. If I remember correctly the "L" terminal is not used, but I can't recall which wire hooks to the terminal on the underside.

The terminals are labeled. Find the wiring diagram for your tractor, and connect the proper wires to the proper terminals.
F to F
BAT to BAT
GEN to GEN
L to L (if your model uses the L terminal...some do, some don't)
Most (all?) new regulators I have seen ground through the mounting tabs, so any ground wire should be connected to a mounting bolt.

Thanks for the reply. I have to presume the terminal on the underside of the new regulator is where the Gen wire goes because it is not marked. The other terminals are labeled F & Bat. My original regulator has no L terminal just F, Gen.& Bat.

Do a search for Roland's fancy wiring diagrams. Once you click on that link, scroll down to your model cub for the wiring diagram. Then scroll all the way down to view the info on the voltage regulators. 
Thanks Digger, I had read about this several months ago, but couldn't remember exactly where the Gen wire went.

I don't seem to find how to polarize a voltage regulator...
I believe you run a jumper wire from battery positive + and flash the arm terminal on the generator for a "millisecond".

Digger , maybe the electric is different when you start the engine. I think we will be telling people that a starter generator polarizes every time you start the tractor for as long as we can by batteries and fuel.
