Hello all! I have 1989 CC 1050 garden tractor. The transmission is stuck in 2nd gear, (better than stuck in reverse), but I can engage the clutch to stop its movement. I would like to keep the old machine active. Are there many other model years that this 3 speed was used in? Did MTD put these trannys in the White tractors? I'm groping for ideas. Thanks, Dan R. from Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The later production 1982-1985 Cub Cadet 582 (not Special) used the same 3 speed aluminum cased manual transmission without the high/low as the 1050. The 1535, 1606, 1806 used the 3 speed with a high low gearbox added to the front of the unit. I've seen the aluminum 3 speed replaced with the older cast iron cased 3 speed used in several Cub models in the 60's-early 1982.

Here is a good video on the transmission rebuild on the cast iron transmission. Might be able to apply some of it to your machine.
